Enjoying the Harvest

I was asked the other day what my most favorite season was. I responded, Autumn, a time when we enjoy the fruits of our labors. A time when we reflect on the efforts put forth. A time when we look back and remember the race we have run. Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We always look back at the races and events we experience with a filter. Many times we remember the good times, they become bigger than life. Yes, we remember the disappointments, but soon they are replaced with the memories of better results, better days, and those victories we achieved along the way.

Autumn is a time where we can enjoy the harvest, relax and reflect on the race we have run. Paul wrote to Timothy in the autumn of his years;

“Grandma’s Gravy” Gambler’s Program Set For Accord Speedway ‘Gobbler’ Saturday, November 29, Providing Bonus Money For All Divisions; Registration Now Open For Modified & Sportsman Teams; Post-Thanksgiving Spectacular Set For Ulster County Quarter-Mile!

ACCORD, NY – Nothing tops a hearty Thanksgiving dinner like “grandma’s gravy.”

And nothing boosts a short-track auto race like bonus money for its racers.

As such, the “Grandma’s Gravy Gambler’s Program” has been instituted for the second edition of the post-Thanksgiving ‘Gobbler’ set for Saturday, November 29 at Accord Speedway. The event made its debut last year as an overwhelming success with more than 100 race cars in the pit area at the Ulster County facility and an overflow crowd.

Again in 2014, the big-block/small-block ‘Mashed Potato Modifieds’ headline the ‘Gobbler’ program in a 50-lap event offering $7,117.11 to the winner thanks to Sowle Trailer Repair. Fifth-place in the event pays $1,000, with $500 reserved for the 10th-place finisher and $300 just to take the green flag. A long list of bonuses, lap sponsors and awards will augment the posted purse throughout the field.
