The Dirt will Fly during the Summer of 2015 at MIR
Memphis International Raceway (MIR) is proud to announce that they will break ground on a 3/10-mile dirt track early next year. The new addition to the multi-use facility will make MIR the premiere racing destination for fans and racers. The dirt track will run weekly events as well as host special events throughout the season with plans to open during the summer of 2015.

A2H engineers, architects and planners, have been named the firm to help bring the dirt track vision into a reality. Based out of the Lakeland, Tenn., the local firm has assisted with multiple community, industrial and athletic projects in the Mid-South area. They will assist with the creation, planning and construction of the brand-new race track at MIR. In addition, Ben Shelton has been tabbed as the consultant on the project.

“A2H is looking forward to supporting Memphis International Raceway with these required upgrades, adding a new dirt track and surrounding facilities,” stated Jerry James, Associate and VP Business Development at A2H. “A2H employee’s history is strong with this race track – having family members competing and attending many races over the years. It is our honor to be part of this exciting new chapter for MIR.”

MIR will become the only motorsports venue in the Mid-South to offer fans a widespread variety of options when it comes to racing. The venue currently has three complete tracks, including a high- performance road course, a historic drag strip and a ¾-mile paved tri-oval. The 2015 schedule already boasts over 150 events on the drag strip, with announcements to be made at a later date regarding the dirt track schedule.

“Our goal is to become the premiere racing destination in the Mid-South,” stated Pam Kendrick VP and GM of Memphis International Raceway. “The state-of-the-art dirt track will be all about the fans and racers. It’s going to feature a fan viewing deck, large concession stand, modern restrooms, both paved and grass pit areas and much more. We’re excited about this and are working hard to get the track open as soon as possible.”

MIR is currently in the planning phase and will send out updates once the classes, rules, schedule, pricing and other information become available regarding the dirt track.
