Short Track Super Series South Region Inaugural Event Set For Sunday, April 19 At Bridgeport Speedway With ‘South Jersey Shootout’ Special; Two Tracks In Action As Modifieds Battle For More Than $25,000!

BRIDGEPORT, NJ – The spacious and state-of-the-art Bridgeport Speedway is set to play its part in history next April.

The five-eighths-mile facility will host to the first-ever event in the Short Track Super Series Fueled By Hi-Tek Pioneer Pole Buildings Inc. South Region on Sunday, April 19, 2015 with the ‘South Jersey Shootout’ special. The tentative rain date is April 26.

The series, featuring big-block/small-block Modifieds will be comprised of five events run in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. The Short Track Super Series South Region, under the direction of BD Motorsports Media LLC, will be launched in ’15 following a successful six-race northern version contested in ‘14.

The Short Track Super Series Fueled By Hi-Tek South Region will pay a minimum of $7,500 to its inaugural champion. The top-10 drivers will share in the series point fund which totals a healthy $19,800 for just five events.

Bridgeport Speedway’s Short Track Super Series South Region opening round will be headlined by a 40-lap Modified event offering $5,000 to the winner from a hefty purse. The event’s 10th-place finisher will receive $1,000, with $400 to take the green. There will be a long list of special awards, contingency prizes and bonuses, as well.

Bridgeport will not be in action on Saturday, April 18, meaning the Sunday event will serve as the weekend’s focal point at the track.

Unique to the ‘South Jersey Shootout’ event: both the outer five-eighths-mile track and inner quarter-mile will be in action on the same day. While the Modifieds, Sportsman and Outlaw Stocks will compete on the big track, Doug Borger’s XCel 600 Modified series is set to do battle on the inner oval. Fans will get to see action on two tracks for one price.

“Bridgeport Speedway is a premier Northeast venue,” said Short Track Super Series organizer Brett Deyo. “It’s an ideal location to start out South series. I expect a nice cross-section of drivers from New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania, plus a good number of New York racers looking to chase points on both our North and South regions.”

Rules will be set to ensure competitive balance between big- and small-block engine combinations for the special event. Complete information will be announced as the event approaches.
