Lee USA Speedway Season Preview

Lee (NH) USA Speedway will host the postponed Governor’s Cup 150 American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model race on Sunday. It will also be the opening event for the North East Mini Stock Tour and Northeast Classic Lites. Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. won the season opener at Oxford (ME) Plains Speedway Sunday.

“We start off with the ACT Tour, do the Bullring Bash,” Promoter Joe Bassett said. “Go into our season opener with no specials that night and then the very next week we start off with the (Mr. Rooter) New England Truck Series and then every single week up until our championship night. We have a special every week.”

With all the touring divisions coming into town, they wanted to make it an event every week. Every week the fan would come into Lee and see something new.

The Northeast Auto Cars and Parts Tri-Track Open Modified Series will return to Lee on May 17. Matt Hirschman won the inaugural event last year. Fans saw a great Modified race.

“You couldn’t of scripted the last 10 laps. I think Mother’s Day hurt the car count and fan count a little bit. But with being the weekend after this year, I think it’s going to be a big show.”

When the Valenti Modified Racing Series rolls into town on June 19, the series will run Twin 50’s for the first time. The AIM Recycling PASS North Super Late Models will return on June 26.

The NEMA Midgets and the NEMA Lites will come into town on July 17. “The NEMA Midgets, they definitely know how to get around that track.”

The Granite State Pro Stock Series will visit on July 24. When the series pulled into the speedway last summer, the series brought the biggest car count all season. Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. took down the win on a green white checkered finish.

The North East Street Stock Tour (NESST) will make their inaugural appearance with an exhibition race on May 17 and a points race on July 31. The track will run their Hobby Stock division that night so that drivers from the Hobby Stocks could run the NESST race if they wanted to.

The annual 75-lap Ollie Silva Memorial ISMA Supermodified event will run August 7.

“In my opinion, they’re the best show we have at Lee. They’re almost as fast at Lee as they are at Thompson. I’m told they are doing a 135 MPH down the end of the straightaways.”

Championship night will be held on September 4.

The track will close 2015 with the Oktoberfest on October 9-11. The Valenti Modified Racing Series will run a 100-lap race, joining the many divisions running that weekend.

“We have our traditional Pro Stocks, Late Models, Street Stocks, Late Model Sportsman. Pretty much you name it if you have a car in New England. We can find a hole for you to race in at Oktoberfest.”

A Test and Tune Session will be held on April 25, with the season opener on April 26. The first NASCAR Whelen All-American Series points race will be on May 29.
