Santos Relegated to 15th Place finish at Oswego Following Heat Race Accident

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 16, 2015) – Bobby Santos took his first laps in an LFR Chassis at Oswego Speedway on Saturday May 9th in the Race of Champions Richie Evans Memorial.  While he was very happy with the handling of the new chassis, a heat race accident left the car damaged and Santos finished 15th in the 75-lap feature race.

Santos, driving for Ray Graham, said the LFR Chassis was running great until he was involved in an accident going for second place in the heat race.  He was second fastest in Practice #4 with a fast time of 18.413 seconds.

“The car was actually very good, had real good forward drive,” said Santos.  “It’s basically a one groove track and I was going to the inside to pass and got pinched down into the inside wall.  It tore the left front right off of the car and broke the rack. It’s a shame because I know we would have been right up front during the race. We tested all day and the car was very good. Hopefully we will get to try this again with better results.”

Fuller and team worked to put a front nose on the car in order to finish the race.

“We had to thrash and get a nose and rack on that car quick and didn’t have time to check the toe, bump or anything for that matter. Without the help of Bobby’s brother-in-law we wouldn’t have even made the race,” said Fuller.  “It was just about getting the car in working order to finish out the laps.  It’s a shame that happened, as I really wanted Bobby to have a full race in the LFR Chassis.  But, there should be ample opportunities for it in the future.”

The expectations of the new LFR Chassis have been very high after such dominating runs by both North and South drivers. Fuller welcomes this high standard and hopes this carries on.

“It’s all about getting the right people in these cars at this stage,” explained Fuller. “Bobby is just that, and after I got to spend some time with him, I would love to see him in our cars again soon.”

When Bobby was asked if he would like to try out the LFR Chassis on the tour, his answer was simply, “Absolutely!”
