Wayne Parritt Takes Late Model Series Win at Speedway 95

After battling for the lead with Frankfort’s Dana Wilbur in the early laps of the 50 lap Hopkins Landscaping series feature for the Dysart’s Late Models at Speedway 95Saturday night, Wayne Parritt of Steuben powered past Wilbur on a lap 21 restart and led the rest of the way to post his second win of the season. Behind Parritt, Dean Smart of Bradley and Joey Doyon of Winterport put on the show of the race with their battle for second and third. Smart held the second position with Doyon on his bumper and at his side for the second half of the race, with Smart taking the second position at the checkers. Doyon took third with Brenton Parritt of Steuben finishing fourth. Wilbur held on for a fifth place finish. These results are unofficial as Doyon’s motor was pulled in post race inspection after some of the engine seals were found to be broken. A further inspection of the motor will be conducted to determine it’s eligibility for competition in the division.

Shane Tatro  of Levant led from the green to the checkers in the Darling’s Ford Sportsman division, with Rookie Trey Brown of Winterport taking the second spot when Steve Kimball of Holden was forced to pit with a flat tire. Ralph Melanson of Corinth finished in third, after recovering from an early race spin that brought out the only caution in the 25 lap race. Mike Overlock of Franklin finished fourth, with Kimball taking the fifth spot.

In the Casella Waste Systems Street Stocks, Keith Ogden of Holden took home the checkers, leading all 20 laps of the feature. Behind Ogden, Greg Pung of Franklin and Asa Jones of Sullivan battled side by side for the entire race until Pung took the second spot with two laps to go. Jones finished third, with Ellsworth’s Bradley Norris finishing in fourth.

The lead in the Coca-Cola Sport-Fours changed five times in the first 10 laps, with Donny Silva of Hudson taking charge on lap 10 and fighting off a determined Dustan Durrell of Newburgh to take the win. Durrell, a rookie in the division, settled for a runner up finish after challenging Silva for most of the race. Brock Worster of Kingman and Lewis Batchelder of Dixmont fought many laps for third and fourth positions, with Worster winning the battle and finishing third. Batchelder finished fourth with Jeff Overlock Jr. of Hermon placing fifth.
