The Return Home:  Granite State Pro Stock Series and Derek Griffith Return to Hudson International Speedway

HUDSON, NH – Derek Griffith continues his breakout year, racking up solid finishes on the Granite State Pro Stock Series, including his first four wins on the tour.  In June, Griffith won in front of his hometown crowd at Hudson International Speedway, and is hopeful for another good run on August 23.

Griffith has lead the championship standings since the second race of the season, only finishing outside the top 6 once, at Speedway 51 after expiring a motor.  The young star has had a season like no other driver in the tour’s history, and with only three races left, the 2015 championship is lurking in the back Griffith’s mind.

“I’m hoping were going to maintain the lead [at Hudson International Speedway],” said Griffith.  “I try not to think about points, but we sort of have to now.”

Griffith has blossomed under car owner and crew chief Louie Mechalides, and is seeking another strong night at his hometrack, saying “We hope for the same outcome.  I know the car will be excellent with Louie setting it up.”

When not behind the wheel, Griffith is a fan of the sport, frequenting his home track of Hudson International Speedway during off weekends.  Griffith continues “It’s obviously much less work and stress watching, but it’s so easy to misread and misunderstand the race.  But I need my racing, it’s like an addiction.  I’ll be glad to be back at Hudson.”

Second-place in the championship standings, Barry Gray is no slouch at Hudson International Speedway himself.  The veteran driver has finished in the top 10 in each of the seven events run at the track with the Granite State Pro Stock Series, including a second place finish in the June event.  Gray is positioned to have his best finish in the championship standings since the series’ inception, but will have to fend off Josh King and Mike Parks in the final three races.

The Granite State Pro Stock Series will be a guest at Hudson International Speedway, on August 15, for the Hudson Hugger.  Post time for this event is 5:03PM.  For more information on the Granite State Pro Stock Series, visit www.gspss.net.
