Myers Wants Bragging Rights in “The Big One” at Concord

Southern Modified Driver Looking for Third North South Shootout Win

(Concord, North Carolina) – For 12 years now, the North-South Shootout has been the race that brings together the best in Modified racing from the two hotbeds of ground-pounding action. Only two of those 12 years has the winner of the race been a resident from the south, and both of those times the winner’s name was Burt Myers.

With the return of the race to Concord Speedway (NC), Myers is hoping to put the south back on top for the first time in five years when the checkered flag waves for the 13th Annual John Blewett III North-South Shootout for the Dunleavy Truck & Trailer Repair Tour-Type Modifieds on November 7.

“I was really excited to hear about it getting moved back to Concord,” said Myers. “Not only is that one of the best race tracks that Modifieds have ever been on, it’s a fun race track. I think it’s more exciting for the fans, it’s a unique race and of course we run well there so there’s a lot of positives going into it. Earlier this year we won the KOMA race there, too. So yeah, I’m really looking forward to it.”

One Year After Breakout Race, Sargeant Returning to Snowball Derby

Pensacola, FL – Less than one year ago, Dalton Sargeant entered the 47th running of the Snowball Derby as a relatively unknown name in the short track racing world. Driving for car owner Richie Wauters and Wauters Motorsports, the Boca Raton, Florida driver surprised everyone by crossing the finish line second on that day in December. This year, following a successful NASCAR K&N Pro Series East rookie season and his debut in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, he’ll head back to Five Flags Speedway on December 6 as a well-known name looking to improve his finish by one spot.

“The Derby is definitely one of the biggest races of the year to run and I think we had a really good performance last year coming home second,” said Sargeant. “Overall, for my first year of stock car racing, that was my highest achievement.”

Heading into last year’s Snowball Derby, Sargeant had only a limited amount of experience racing stock cars on ovals. At the age of 12, he left Florida and went to Europe to pursue a career in Formula One racing. He later made the decision to come back to the United States in an attempt to climb the NASCAR ranks, and before the 2014 Snowball Derby he only had a handful of Super Late Model starts under his belt.

Bobby Santos to Drive for Rob Fuller Motorsports in North-South Shootout

Santos Returning to LFR Chassis Modified For Second Time This Year

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 29, 2015) – Rob Fuller Motorsports will have an experienced racing veteran behind the wheel of its No. 15 modified during the upcoming North-South Shootout event at Concord Speedway on November 6-7, as Bobby Santos is slated to make his return to an LFR Chassis machine. Santos, the 2010 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, previously competed in an LFR Chassis modified at Oswego Speedway back in April.

“I’m looking forward to working with Bobby again at Concord Speedway,” said Rob Fuller, team owner. “Oswego Speedway was a last minute deal at a track I’d never been to on a tire we had never run before, and we still wound up second in practice there, so to go to a track we are both familiar with should be fun. It’s a great weekend of modified racing with both north and south teams competing. We should have four LFR Chassis cars in the field, which is double what it normally is, so I’m looking forward to watching everyone work together and see how we stack up at the end of the day.”

Santos’ first run in an LFR Chassis at Oswego Speedway did not go as planned, as he got swept up in an accident during a heat-race early on in the racing weekend. The North-South Shootout entry now provides him with a chance at redemption.

Daniel Wesson Takes R.A.D. Automachine & T/A Engines SK Light Rookie of the Year Honors at Stafford Motor Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT — For the 2015 season at Stafford Motor Speedway, Monson, MA native Daniel Wesson made the transition from the Monday Night Wild Thing Kart ranks into the open wheel ranks of the SK Light division.  As a 15-year old making the transition from karts to open wheel modifieds, it could be said that not much should be expected from such a young driver making that type of change.  But Wesson proved to be the best of all of Stafford’s rookie drivers during the 2015 season, scoring three feature wins to lead all rookie drivers in any division at Stafford in that category and take home R.A.D. Automachine & T/A Engines Rookie of the Year honors.

“Rookie of the Year was a great accomplishment for us,” said Wesson.  “Our goals for the season were to win a race, finish top-10 in the points standings, and win Rookie of the Year.  We accomplished all of our goals and it was a good start for our modified racing team.  I would like to thank Donnie from R.A.D. and Tony from T/A for sponsoring the rookie program at Stafford.”

As Wesson embarked on his rookie campaign at Stafford, he proved to be a quick study behind the wheel of his #92 Competitive Edge Coatings Chevrolet by winning in only his 8th career start.  Wesson scored 10 top-9 finishes in the final 14 races of the season, including two more feature wins to bring his season totals to 3 wins, 7 top-5, and 14 top-10 finishes.

Tyler Hines Wins SPAFCO SK ModifiedR Rookie of the Year Award at Stafford Motor Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT — After collecting a win and a top-10 finish in the points standings in Stafford Speedway’s SK Light division, North Haven native Tyler Hines made the move into Stafford’s premier SK Modified® division for the 2015 season.  Hines was joined from the SK Light ranks by 2014 track champion Jeremy Sorel and Mike Christopher, Jr. for what had all the promise of a great fight for the SPAFCO Rookie of the Year honors in 2015.  The three SK Light drivers didn’t disappoint with the rookie race going right down to the final race of the year where Hines outlasted Christopher by a 16-point margin, or 8 positions on the race track, to claim the Rookie of the Year title.

“It’s a great feeling, we were able to complete our long-term goal for the year,” said Hines.  “It was a tough season, but at least we were able to get some success out of it.  I think it was a little below expectation for us.  We were battling with the car for most of the season more than anything which didn’t allow us to compete at the level we were hoping to be at.  We were fast, it just seemed like something was always missing each week.  We had some brake issues, which was a disaster, but we kept going and towards the end of the year, we started to figure things out and we got some speed again in the car.”

For the season, Hines and the #94 DC Rentals team managed to capture a best finish of third place on June 12th.  Although that performance was Hines’ only top-5 finish during his rookie campaign, it showed him and the team that they could run up front and that is what they have their eyes set on for the 2016 season at Stafford along with putting the #94 into NAPA Victory Lane.

CLUTE, Texas (October 23, 2015) – The year’s primary goal for Aaron Reutzel and the Shark-powered BC Fundz/Basic One Services No. 87 Triple X Sprint Car team has all but been accomplished.

Now, another big goal awaits next weekend; the top step of the podium at I-30 Speedway’s Short Track Nationals.

But first, that primary goal for the Wren Motorsports/Momentum Racing Suspensions team; the $60,000 Lucas Oil ASCS National championship.

That goal was finally reached in all reality with a pair of top-ten finishes at last weekend’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway Winter Nationals in Mesquite, TX.

Finishes of eighth and sixth wouldn’t typically elicit need for much celebration for the Dissolvealloy Frac Ball Revolution team. But, when it puts the clamps on a $60,000 title, a quick celebration could be in order.

Zack Robinson Takes Home R.A.D. Automachine DARE Stock Rookie of the Year Honors at Stafford Motor Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT — With only 4 years of quarter midget experience to his racing resume, 15-year old Putnam native Zack Robinson had modest expectations heading into his rookie season of DARE Stock competition at Stafford Motor Speedway.  Robinson and his #14 Shipee Solar Panels team had one goal and that was to win R.A.D. Automachine Rookie of the Year honors, which they did by a whopping 116 point margin.

“It feels pretty good,” said Robinson.  “We went into the year with the one goal of winning Rookie of the Year.  We weren’t hoping for anything in the points and with 3 races to go, we were fifth in points so it became another goal of ours to finish in the top-5 for the season.”

Robinson finished the season fifth in points to check off another accomplishment on his short list of goals for the 2015 season and not only did the team end the season in fifth place, they were one of three DARE Stock rookie teams, joining the #48 team of Marcello Rufrano and the #27 team of Phil Evans, to record a feature win.  Since Robinson and the #14 crew had no expectations for where they were going to finish in the points standings, their feature win came as a big but welcome surprise.

David Comeau Wins 2015 Limited Late Model R.A.D. Automachine & T/A Engines Rookie of the Year Award at Stafford Motor Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT — After two successful seasons in Stafford Speedway’s DARE Stock division, Palmer, MA native David Comeau moved up to Stafford’s Limited Late Model division and took home R.A.D. Automachine & T/A Engines Rookie of the Year honors to go along with his 2013 R.A.D. Automachine Rookie of the Year award in the DARE Stock division. While Comeau was unable to match his 2-win season of one year ago, he posted 1 top-5 and 17 top-10 finishes during the season. Comeau was neck and neck for much of the year with Robert Bloxsom, III for the R.A.D. Automachine & T/A Engines Rookie of the Year honors, and the final margin between the two rookie drivers was 16 points, or 8 positions on the race track.

“It feels great,” said Comeau.  “Rookie of the Year was one of my goals when the season first started.  I’ve tried out 2 different divisions now after never racing before and I was able to win Rookie of the Year both times, so I’m pretty excited about that.  It was tough this year, those guys out there make it look easy.  We struggled with the car.  I finished second one night so we can say we were the highest finishing rookie, but overall we weren’t really competitive and it was a bit disappointing for us.  I wanted to win a race so bad for everyone on the team and my wife brought our kids to the track every Friday night, but we just could never get there.  Everyone worked so hard, Kris Fluckiger really did a lot of work on the car, along with his dad Kevin, Matteo and Barry Fluckiger.  They all helped me out and it took a lot more time and energy with this car compared to the DARE Stock.”

Comeau was able to challenge for the DARE Stock championship last season with his 2 wins, but he says the biggest challenge for him and the #8 T.S. Alliance team this season in the Limited Late Model was the difference between the two cars with tuning options and how to best relay what the car needed for changes on a week to week basis.
