USAC Dirt Midget Association Holds Championship Awards Banquet

Ellington, CT: The USAC Dirt Midget Association held the 2015 Champions Award Banquet in conjunction with Bear Ridge Speedway. In front of a full Vermont banquet facility at the Lake Morey Resort, many honors were awarded including the series champion.

The evening kicked off with opening remarks from USAC DMA representative Mark Hann who was also the event’s MC. In addition to Hann, April May Preston and C.V. Butch Elms, both promoters of the speedway, provided opening statements. Guest speaker for the event was Karl Fredrickson from Speedway Illustrated.

Many awards handed out during the banquet included the Lap Leader that was given to Josh Sunn, Most Poplar Driver went to Kevin Chaffee, Rookie of The Year Kenny Johnson was on hand to accept this honor, Hard Luck Award from Big Al’s Photos was earned by Scott Holcomb, and the series championship was award to Adam Pierson for the second year in a row.

The week before, Adam Pierson received his national championship award during the USAC Banquet held Friday night December 11th at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis, IN.

Pierson, along with car owner Frank Manafort, received the Elliot Beverage Award for scoring the most points during each of the 2015 four lap midget dash races.

A special award that was presented during the banquet and went to Mark Hann was the Chris Economacki Vision Award for dedication to the sport of auto racing.

A racing legend from the Northeast, Ray Miller, who also competes in the USAC DMA series, was awarded the Sportsmanship Award.

The top ten drivers in the season-ending points where all recognized and included: 1st Adam Pierson, 2nd Josh Sunn, 3rd Dean Christensen, 4th Kevin Chaffee, 5th Scott Holcomb, 6th Ray Miller, 7th Kenny Johnson, 8th Jeff Horn,9th Adam Whitney and 10th was Derek Graham.

The series also announced an 11 race schedule starting on May 7th, 2016 with the potential of several more events being added before the season begins.
