Speed51.com to Host RoC Modified Tour Most Popular Driver Contests

Concord, NC — Ferris Mower Race of Champions Modified Series Fueled by Sunoco competitors on both asphalt and dirt will have a new reason to appeal to the short track racing fan base in 2016. In addition to a new management group for the tours, the Race of Champions Modified Tour and Speed51.com are pleased to announce that both tour’s Most Popular Driver contests will be hosted on Speed51.com during the upcoming racing season.

“Bob Dillner (Executive Editor for Speed51.com) and I have known each other for many years and we share a tremendous passion for short track racing, especially modified racing and what he and his team at Speed5.com have done to promote short track racing has been incredible,” said Joe Skotnicki, owner of the Ferris Mowers Race of Champions Modified Fueled by Sunoco. “Bob contacted me about how important the Race of Champions is to him and this was a natural fit, to have them award the Most Popular Driver is outstanding and we are really looking forward to this partnership.”

Dillner, a native of the Northeast, has always had a spot in his heart for the ground-pounding Tour-Type Modifieds and the Big-Block Modifieds that sling dirt throughout the region. He and the entire Speed51.com staff are anxious to step up their coverage of both Race of Champions series’ in 2016.

“Joe and I grew up around the ‘Mighty Modifieds.’ We live, eat and breath that world,” said Dillner. “Plus, the Race of Champions means so much to me. My dad took me to the event itself for so many years dating back to Pocono in the 80s. My family and I used to go to a bunch of Dirt Modified races in Upstate New York during the summer months too when I was younger so it’s a perfect fit. It’s exciting to be a part of it through Speed51.com and we hope it’s a start to a long-term partnership.”

The Most Popular Driver contest is just one of many ways Speed 51 and Race of Champions will work together in 2016 to enhance the experience for fans of the popular Modified tour. Speed51.com will offer Trackside Now coverage of many Race of Champions events, as well as provide on-demand video content from series events on the Speed51 Network.

Voting for the Race of Champions Most Popular Driver is anticipated to begin near the halfway mark of the 2016 racing season. At that time, the voting will take place on Speed51.com and fans will be encouraged to make their way to the site daily in order to cast their votes. The drivers receiving the most votes for each respective series (asphalt and dirt) will be named the winners of the contest.

Each winner will receive a free hero card design and an award courtesy of 51 Sports, the parent company of Speed51.com.
