DCRP Title Chases Taking Shape

DODGE CITY, Kan. (May 5, 2016) – With three nights of competition logged into the books in April, the chases for the 2016 division championships at Dodge City Raceway Park are beginning to take shape.

And that action will continue on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. with the NCRA/Gomuddy.com NSL 360 Sprint Cars headlining the night’s card that includes title chase action for the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Out to the early lead in the title chases are Taylor Velasquez, Nick Link, Jeff Kaup, Tyler Tipton and Cody Davis.  A quick look at each chase follows…

Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars:

A top-five finisher in each of the opening three events of the year, Taylor Velasquez is out to the early lead by just six points over Tyler Knight with defending champ Luke Cranston another three points back in third as only 19 points separate the top five.  The DCRP Sprint Car ranks return to action on May 21, though Velasquez, Cranston, and others will likely put in the bigger powerplant to contend forSaturday night’s $2,000 NCRA/NSL winner’s share.

IMCA Modifieds: 

After a pair of runner-up finishes to start the season, a cut tire on the final lap of the most recent feature hurt Nick Link’s cause.  He still hangs on to the lead entering Saturday’s action, though it’s down to just three points over Ryan Heger.

Gunning for a fourth consecutive track championship, Jeff Kaup has won two in a row to build an early 32 point advantage over Kevin Tabor.
