SSS Announces Tri-State Bonus Bucks Program for Racers

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Drivers competing in the next three Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco events will have a chance to pad their pockets with extra cash. The series will hand out a $1,000 “Tri-State Bonus Bucks” bonus to the driver with the best average finish in the upcoming trio of events at Five Flags Speedway (FL) on May 27, Mobile International Speedway (AL) on May 28 and Crisp Motorsports Park on June 4.

“We’re excited to kick off the upcoming three race Southern Super Series stretch with the Annual Memorial Day Weekend Doubleheader at Pensacola and Mobile,” said Southern Super Series Director Tim Bryant. “We realize that three races, in three states, in eight days might be tough on guys, so we’ve posted a little extra cash incentive to sweeten the pot. Overall, we’ve been extremely happy with car counts in 2016, so we hope we can keep things rolling with these races.”

While the Southern Super Series had three Gulf Coast doubleheaders between Five Flags Speedway and Mobile International Speedway in 2015, this weekend marks the only doubleheader of the 2016 season. A year ago on the Memorial Day weekend double header, it was Casey Roderick and Harrison Burton who found their way to Victory Lane. It was also Roderick who picked up the win when the series visited Pensacola just a month ago.

Less than one week after teams fight for the win in Mobile, they will rebound with the Four Star Freightliners 125 at Crisp Motorsports Park on Friday, June 4. The series won’t see a repeat winner in Cordele, Georgia as Daniel Hemric captured the checkered flag last year.

Heading into this three-race stretch Donnie Wilson leads the overall point standings.

The bonus for this stretch of races won’t be the only one to come out of the Southern Super Series this year. Bryant did give a little bit of a teaser, saying a bonus for Stan Narrison’s Rumble by the River 125 at Montgomery Motor Speedway on June 18will be announced at Cordele.
