Devil’s Bowl Speedway Dirt Track Fans Encouraged to “Think Sun” on Sunday

SCoNE Sprints added to Sunday, June 5 makeup race date

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil’s Bowl Speedway will try once more on Sunday, June 5 to beat Mother Nature and get the 50th season of stock car racing underway at its 3/10-mile Dirt Track. As a bonus, the Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) series has been confirmed for the June 5 event; SCoNE was scheduled to race on the Dirt Track at Devil’s Bowl last week before thunderstorms rolled through.

While Devil’s Bowl’s half-mile Asphalt Track has had good luck on Saturdays, rainy weather in May has forced the Dirt Track to cancel its first two scheduled Sunday race events on May 22 and May 29, as well as two practice dates earlier in the month.

Track officials decided during last week’s rainout to add a race date on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. to make up for lost time, and SCoNE officials and competitors have agreed to participate. Race fans are encouraged to use the power of positivity and “think sun” for the Sunday, June 5 race.

“We’re starting to not believe some of the local weather reports lately,” Devil’s Bowl Speedway promoter Mike Bruno joked. “The last few weeks have been frustrating, and the rain seems to move in at the last minute. Unless it’s really bad outside, we’re going for it this Sunday at 6:00 p.m. We want to race on the dirt as much as everyone else, so we need everyone to ‘think sun’ this weekend!”

A strong field of cars showed on May 22 for what was to be the first NASCAR Whelen All-American Series-sanctioned event in dirt racing history at Devil’s Bowl. In addition to the winged Sprint Cars, Devil’s Bowl fans will get to see action from the Central Vermont Motorcycles Sportsman Modifieds, Rosen & Berger Renegades, and Portland Glass Mini Stocks.

Regular general admission prices are in effect on Sunday, June 5, with tickets at $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (62+), $10 for students (13-17), and free for kids 12 and under. All general admission grandstand tickets and pit pass wristbands purchased on May 22 will be honored.

The addition of the Sunday, June 5 date creates a two-track doubleheader weekend at Devil’s Bowl Speedway; the American-Canadian Tour Late Models will be on the half-mile Asphalt Track on Saturday, June 4 at 6:00 p.m. for the People’s United Bank 100, along with the weekly asphalt NASCAR divisions.
