1. Ed Carpenter Racing hits road course at Sonoma: Ed Carpenter Racing tested Tuesday on a road course for the first time in 2017, as teammates JR Hildebrand and Spencer Pigot completed a one-day session at Sonoma Raceway, home to the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma that will conclude the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series season in September.

It marked Pigot’s first time in an Indy car this year. The 23-year-old Floridian is driving ECR’s No. 20 Chevrolet at road- and street-course events this season, with team owner Ed Carpenter in the car for the six oval races. Hildebrand is driving the entire season in the No. 21 Chevy and tested Feb. 10-11 on the oval at Phoenix Raceway.

Solomito Scores Second Title at Riverhead

Helps Whelen Modified Legend Score First Title as Owner

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Shawn Solomito helped a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour legend complete his bucket list in 2016 at New York’s Riverhead Raceway.

Solomito, who turns 28 this week, captured his second track championship at Riverhead in the modified division and in doing so helped 1994 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Wayne Anderson claim his first Riverhead track championship as a car owner at the quarter-mile speed plant.

“We had one of those seasons that was like a dream season,” said Solomito, who also won the Riverhead track title in 2012 driving a family-owned car. “We won five features, we hardly tore up any equipment and I think we finished top three every night except for like three nights last year.”

Northwest Qualifiers for Oxford and Hickory, Entry Forms, and Lap Boards Keep PASS Busy

CHARLOTTE, NC (February 15) – Although the 2017 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) season is barely under way, North America’s most prominent Super Late Model tour is already looking towards two of the biggest events of the year, the 44th Annual Oxford 250 in August and the recently announced Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 300 in November.  Today officials from PASS, the Northwest Super Late Model Series, and Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval (WVSO) announced that two events at the Washington State speedway will serve as qualifiers for each of the premier events in PASS.

“I met Tom [Mayberry] at North Wilkesboro about five years ago and since then we have become good friends and shared a lot of late night talks while on the road traveling,” said Garrett Evans, a multi-time Super Late Model champion in the Northwest.  “It was a great honor to have the PASS Northwest Triple Crown at WVSO, my hometown track, a few years ago.  The timing wasn’t right for a series in our area then, but I feel things are getting closer for PASS to possibly return next year.”

As part of the agreement, the top two finishers in the Leonard Evans Memorial 150 at WVSO on April 29 will be on “The Road To The Oxford 250” and will have guaranteed starting spots in the prestigious race.  Additionally, the top two finishers of the Neal Newberry 125 at WVSO on September 23 will have guaranteed starting spots in the Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 300 at Hickory Motor Speedway in November, which will pay $15,000 to win, plus additional lap leader money.
