DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2017) – Lorene King, who has led The NASCAR Foundation as its executive director since 2012, has accepted a position with Daytona State College to serve as vice president of advancement and executive director of the Daytona State College Foundation.

King’s new position was approved during the college’s monthly Board of Trustees meeting on Feb. 16. Her highly successful tenure at NASCAR will end on March 10. Nichole Krieger, The NASCAR Foundation’s senior director, development, and marketing, will immediately become the foundation’s acting executive director.

King came to The NASCAR Foundation from the world-renowned St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. From 2005-2012 she was that facility’s senior director of corporate alliances; prior to that, she was St. Jude’s senior director of legal and estates and trusts from 1996-2005.

During King’s years with The NASCAR Foundation, she worked closely with the foundation’s chairwoman and founder, the late Betty Jane France. King has overseen exponential growth for a variety of foundation initiatives, starting with the Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award which is presented annually to an individual who personifies the philanthropic ideals of France, who died last August.

“Lorene King was the perfect person to champion Betty Jane’s vision throughout the motorsports industry and beyond,” said The NASCAR Foundation Chairman Mike Helton. “When she came aboard back in 2012, we expected her to raise the bar for us across the board. She did just that. In the process, she helped increase The NASCAR Foundation’s visibility – and its viability. We will forever be grateful for her time as part of our team.”
