Nasse Records Second Podium Finish of 2017 at SpeedFest

Pinellas Park, FL — Stephen Nasse kept his 2017 string of podium finishes alive with a third-place finish in the ARCA/CRA Super Series portion of SpeedFest Sunday at Crisp Motorsports Park (GA). The Pinellas Park, Florida driver finished third in the Red Eye 100 at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) earlier in the month and feels good about the momentum his team is building this year.

“Overall we were good,” Nasse said. “We had a great long run car. We struggled to be fast on the short runs, but luckily there weren’t a lot of cautions so that worked in our favor.”

The 21 year-old driver qualified 10th for the 200-lap ACRA/CRA Super Series event. By lap 69 he worked his way into the top five and broke into the top-three on lap 124. Nasse battled hard with NASCAR Monster Energy Cup driver Erik Jones for the second position over the final 75 laps before settling into a third-place finish.

“I tried getting around him but he was just a little better than me with drive off, so I could get my nose under him but then coming off the corner he would pull away,” Nasse explained. “I stalked him for many laps waiting for him to make a mistake, but he doesn’t make mistakes; he’s a great driver. I was satisfied finishing third behind him, we had a good, clean, hard battle.”

Nasse doesn’t take much time off as he jumps right back behind the wheel starting Friday, February 17 at New Smyrna Speedway for the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing. In his last two races at New Smyrna, Nasse has brought home sixth and third-place finishes respectively.
