Eckes Eager to Get Back in Car and Contend for Win at Concord

(GREENVILLE, NY) – It’s been close to a month since the last time Christian Eckes was behind the wheel of a race car. Fortunately for the 16-year-old Snowball Derby champion, that streak is coming to an end this weekend when he straps in at North Carolina’s Concord Speedway for the Circle Track Warehouse 200 season-opener for the CARS Racing Tour.

The last time Eckes raced at Concord Speedway in a CARS Tour event he finished third in the Late Model Stock Car and 10th in the Super Late Model.

This weekend Eckes will not be running double-duty as he focuses solely on his Fury Race Cars Super Late Model at the fast, tricky triangular half-mile of Concord Speedway.

“I absolutely love racing at Concord,” Eckes said. “It’s definitely in my top-three of tracks we run at in Super Late Models. It’s just a really fun track to race.”

The last time Eckes was on track was at Dillon Motor Speedway (SC) in early February. Eckes put in a dominating performance but ultimately ended up finishing second. In his first race of 2017 at CRA SpeedFest in Cordele, Georgia, Eckes finished sixth after a bit of a tumultuous weekend.

“We struggled a little bit at Cordele, but we definitely showed our speed once again at Dillon,” Eckes stated. “I definitely think we will have a shot at winning this weekend. We’ve been close a lot of times to getting to Victory Lane and I’m excited to try again this weekend with my Fury Race Car team.

“I’m extremely thankful for the opportunity to race this weekend, big thank you to everybody from Fury Race Cars and Toyota Racing for making this possible.”

Eckes will hit the track at Concord Speedway on Saturday, March 11 at 10:15 a.m. ET for practice. He will qualify his Fury Race Cars Super Late Model at 2 p.m. ET in the new “knockout qualifying” format, and then he will take the green the flag at approximately 3 p.m. ET for the 100-lap feature.
