Evergreen Postpones “March Madness” Enduros; Revises Four Banger Sunday Format

(March 13, 2017) — St. Johns, PA — Due to the severity of the storm that is predicted to slam the east coast, Evergreen Raceway has decided to postpone their “March Madness” Enduros to Sunday, March 26.

“I’d rather make this decision early and allow for teams to plan for the next show”, noted speedway promoter, Jason Makarewicz.

“The last thing that anyone wants is for someone to have an accident on the way to the track or as they’re headed home. This way it’ll give everyone time to prepare for the final event of our Triple Crown Series.”

Eckes Scores Another Podium Finish in Strong Run at Concord

GREENVILLE, NY — Christian Eckes has been nothing but consistent so far in 2017 as he scored another second-place finish Saturday at Concord Speedway (NC) in the Circle Track Warehouse 200. The strong run ties the 16 year-old driver’s career best CARS Racing Tour finish.

“I definitely think we had one of the best cars on the long run,” said Eckes, “But we just could not fire off well. We struggled a little bit in the beginning and a little at the end. Overall I’m really happy.”

The Greenville, NY driver qualified his No. 15 Fury Race Car in the fifth position in a new CARS Tour qualifying format. In its debut, the knockout qualifying format provided a lot of excitement. Eckes qualified fifth in round one, allowing him to move into the final round of qualifying. The young driver backed up his lap with another fifth-place qualifying effort to start from that position in the 100-lap race.

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Drivers hoping to contend for the 2017 Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco championship just saw their road to the title get a whole lot tougher. The Carswell Motorsports team, which fielded a championship effort for Daniel Hemric in 2013, has brought in veteran ringer Paul Kelley to pilot their No. 98 Super Late Model this season.

Kelley will drive the team’s car full-time on the Southern Super Series with hopes of a championship effort in 2017.

“Jake (Carswell) called me last week and asked me if I would be interested in driving for him,” Kelley said. “I have known Jake & Deanna Carswell for years from having driven against them and now we are teaming up for the 2017 season. Haas Automation/Monster Energy Racing: Kurt Busch Phoenix Advance and Team Report

KURT BUSCH Another ‘Home Game’ in the Desert Southwest

KANNAPOLIS, North Carolina (March 13, 2017) – Growing up in Las Vegas, Kurt Busch spent the early years of his career competing at tracks along the West Coast.

And when he wasn’t behind the wheel of his racecar, the driver of the No. 41 Haas Automation/Monster Energy Ford Fusion for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) traveled to area tracks to take in races as a spectator. Throughout the 1990s, Busch regularly made the trek to Phoenix International Raceway just to have the chance to watch NASCAR superstars like Dale Earnhardt and Davey Allison compete.

Getting the opportunity to race at the mile oval in the desert west of Phoenix – the same track where he had cheered for many of his racing heroes – was a dream come true for Busch. Racing at the track was like a home game for Busch, who also attended college for several semesters at the University of Arizona down the road in Tucson before making it in NASCAR’s big leagues.
