Hallstrom Motorsports Produces Strong 2016 Campaign in the Northeast

NORTHFIELD, Vt. (March 21, 2017) – Hallstrom Motorsports is looking to build on a stout 2016 season that featured success on many levels.

The team’s drivers, Evan Hallstrom and Devin O’Connell, combined for three wins, a dozen top fives and 15 top 10s in addition to several awards.

Hallstrom competed in the Dare Devil Division at Speedway 51, which is located in Groveton, N.H. During his rookie year in the class, Hallstrom proved to be successful behind the wheel as he scored three wins and five runner-up finishes along with four more top-five finishes.

“Speedway 51 was an awesome track to go to,” he said. “The facility, the management, the safety crews and the track all made it a better experience and a better place to race at overall.”

Hallstrom overcame mechanical woes at the beginning of the season to score his first career feature victory.

“That was definitely an experience with that being my first win of my career,” he said. “Hopefully there is many more of those to come.”

A couple of weeks later, despite engine problems persisting, Hallstrom captured his second win of the season running on only three cylinders.

“After the second win, we took the motor up to the shop in Maine and spent almost every day up there trying to get it fixed,” he said. “We’ve definitely put in our time, effort and dedication into this.”

Hallstrom wrapped up the season at Speedway 51 with another trip to Victory Lane, which gives the team momentum heading into 2017.

O’Connell, who was Hallstrom’s developmental driver teammate, moved up to stock cars in 2016. He competed in the American-Canadian Tour in the Northeast, capturing three top 10s and seven top 15s en route to a 12 th-place finish in the championship standings. O’Connell was also presented with the American-Canadian Tour Rookie of the Year Award.

Plans for the 2017 season are taking shape and will be released in the near future.
