Coughlin Picking Up Steam in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series

MARTINSVILLE, VA – Fans at Martinsville Speedway departed the track affectionately known as “The Paperclip” talking about several things from the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series springtime event. One of those water-cooler type discussions will involve a fantastic performance by Cody Coughlin.

The driver of the No. 13 JEGS Performance Toyota Tundra for ThorSport Racing rebounded Saturday from a 27th starting spot, a pit-road miscue and being two laps down, to knock on the door for a top-10 finish in the closing laps of the Alpha Energy Solutions 250.

The aggressive nature of another driver, in the third turn of the final lap, spoiled what was an unbelievable comeback for the 21 year-old Coughlin.

Brandon Sheppard Leads Green-to-Checkers at Farmer City Raceway

Brian Shirley Passes Billy Moyer to Round Out the Podium

FARMER CITY, IL- April 1, 2017- During night one of the two day show at Farmer City Raceway for the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series Illini 100 event, Brandon Sheppard held on to the lead from green-to-checkers. That’s also how the feature played out with no cautions during the 75-lap event.

Sheppard has had his eyes set on Farmer City Raceway since the start of the season and the results from tonight’s event puts the cherry on top for the young driver. Not only did he defeat the stacked field during the feature, he also set the fastest lap on the track during qualifying, placed second in his heat race and pulled the pole position during the redraw.

Earlier in the day Sheppard said, “It would mean a lot to me and this team if we won tonight. We only have one Outlaw race on the year and there has been a different winner at every track this year so to be the first repeat winner would be awesome.”

Gravel Leads Green-to-Checker for Third Win of 2017 Season

Sweet and Haudenschild round out top-three at Perris Auto Speedway

PERRIS, CA – April 1, 2017 – David Gravel was the driver to beat at Perris Auto Speedway for the SoCal Showdown bringing an end the spring California swing. As the track rubbered-up, Gravel was in the ideal position, out front. Running mainly the high-lane around the half-mile oval, Gravel was able to pull away on multiple restarts to take home his third victory of the season.

“I’m happy I got the jump on the restarts and got the lead to manipulate the race for yourself,” said the driver of the No. 5 CJB Motorsports machine. “Just happy to get another win, this is definitely huge, this the most wins I’ve had this early in the season. Not that it takes the pressure off but you just want to keep it rolling.”

A top-five qualifying effort, a heat-race win, and a second in the Craftsman Club Dash, allowed for Gravel to start on the front row of tonight’s 30-lap Feature. The driver that started the SoCal Showdown from the pole was California-native, Brad Sweet. With Gravel checking-out on the initial start, Sweet had his hands full fending off the rookie-of-the-year contender, Sheldon Haudenschild for the second position. A red flag was displayed on Lap 10 when the No. 2x of Parker Price-Miller went for a tumble in Turn 2; Price-Miller walked away unscathed.

No More Second Thoughts; Windom Finally Hits the Win Column at the Burg

Lawrenceburg, Indiana — Chris Windom knows how to win. His 15 career USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car wins certainly attest to that. Of those 15 wins, though, one place that had eluded him over the past decade was southeastern Indiana’s Lawrenceburg Speedway.

In almost a cruel way, Windom had finished second on five different occasions during his career in USAC competition at the three-eighths-mile dirt oval, including last Fall’s most recent stop on the tour.

On Saturday night, the Canton, Illinois native would shed the label of perennial Lawrenceburg runner-up by leading all 30 laps on his way to victory in the 2017 Midwest season opener for the series.

Johnny Herrera Sweeps The ASCS Southwest Shootout

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (April 1, 2017) Making it a perfect weekend at the Southern New Mexico Speedway, Albuquerque’s Johnny Herrera lined his pockets with $5,000 in a sweep of the Consolidated Solar Technologies ASCS Southwest Sprint Car Shootout with the Carlyle Tools ASCS Southwest Region.

Career win No. 19 for Herrera, the MVT No. 45x trailed the opening rounds as Rick Ziehl took off with the race lead on the opening lap. Relinquishing the position to Skylar Gee on the second lap, Skylar was not without company as Herrera followed him around the No. 20z to take second.

Distancing themselves from the field, the pair began searching around the New Mexico oval as the track went black. Edging his line down bit by bit, Herrera found the rubber just as the pair ran down the tail of the field. Pulling past Skylar on Lap 12, Herrera kept pace through several restarts with more than enough tread to burn on his Hoosier Tires.

Derek Hagar Tops ASCS Mid-South/Red River Showdown at I-30 Speedway

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 1, 2017) Derek Hagar was no joke at Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway on Saturday night, as the driver of the No. 9jr thrilled a nearly packed house in the 2017 return of the ASCS Mid-South Region. Taking on the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products, the win is Hagar’s first with both Regions.

Taking off third, Hagar captured the lead from Brian Bell in traffic on Lap 16 for the night’s $2,000 prize.
