Round Seven of Ohio Sprint Speedweek at Limaland Motorsports Park Cancelled

LIMA, OH (June 23, 2017) – A mixture of heavy rains and saturated grounds forced Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions and Limaland Motorsports Park officials to cancel round seven of Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket scheduled for Friday evening, June 23. Although officials are working together to bring the Arctic Cat All Stars back to Limaland Motorsports Park, any potential rain date will not be connected to Ohio Sprint Speedweek; will not count toward the overall win bonus, nor the Ohio Sprint Speedweek championship.

The 2017 Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket championship will be determined on Saturday evening, June 24, at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio. Only two markers separate Tim Shaffer and Chad Kemenah in the Ohio Sprint Speedweek championship standings entering the Saturday night finale. If a tie would occur in the final Ohio Sprint Speedweek standings, feature finishes throughout the week will be used as a tiebreaker to determine the champion; number of victories, number of runner-up finishes, and so on.

Atomic Speedway pit gates will open at 2:00 pm, followed by main gates at 4:00 pm and hot laps at 6:00 pm. Those who would like to learn more about the Atomic Speedway Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket finale should visit Atomic Speedway live on the Web at www.atomicspeedway.net. Aboard the Kevin Swindell-owned/Premier Truck Group/John Christner Trucking/No. 39, Bayston led all 30 circuits on Thursday evening at the Dresden-area oval, manhandling multiple waves of intense traffic, as well as an aggressive cushion at the top of the speedway, to clinch his first Arctic Cat All Star win since April. Fellow Indiana native Caleb Armstrong finished second, followed by Chad Kemenah, Tim Shaffer, and Cole Duncan.

“I’m going to get most of the credit here tonight, but the people who really deserve the credit are the ones standing behind me,” Spencer Bayston said in victory lane. “This is a brand new race car. We rolled one over the other night at Wayne County Speedway, so we’ve been up until about four in the morning the last few nights working to get this one ready. Kevin and Jordan [Swindell], the whole crew; they all work so hard and make all of this happen. Without them, I wouldn’t be standing up here.”

Kyle Larson leads California podium sweep at Sharon Speedway; second consecutive Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket victory

HARTFORD, OH (June 20, 2017) – Elk Grove, California’s Kyle Larson picked up right where he left off on Monday evening, this time scoring a second consecutive Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket main event victory during competition at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, ultimately holding off a pair of California natives for a $5,000 top prize.

Larson, who started sixth on the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions feature grid, wasted no time working his way to the front of the feature field. The pilot of the Paul Silva-owned/Finley Farms/No. 57 moved around early leader Rico Abreu on lap four, eventually withstanding multiple waves of traffic, as well as mid-race and late race charges from Abreu and Carson Macedo. The Arctic Cat All Star victory was the sixth of Larson’s career with all six occurring during Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket.

“It’s really cool to win this race a year after Bryan Clauson won this race. The Clauson family means a lot to me,” Kyle Larson explained. “Paul Silva really made some big improvements tonight. He tried some things in the dash, but we were really slow. He made some more changes and they really worked out. Hats off to Paul. He’s the smartest guy in the pit area.”

Postponed Attica A-Main to Award Show-up Points Toward Ohio Sprint Speedweek Championship

ATTICA, OH (June 17, 2017) – Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions officials have determined that the postponed Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket A-main from Friday, June 16, at Attica (OH) Raceway Park will accumulate show-up points toward the Ohio Sprint Speedweek championship, as well as count toward the overall win bonus structure that was established before the beginning of Speedweek. The 2017 Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket champion will be crowned at the conclusion of the Speedweek finale at Atomic Speedway on Saturday, June 24.

All participants who entered action at Attica Raceway Park on June 16 will acquire 90 show-up points toward the Ohio Sprint Speedweek championship. Points acquired during the postponed A-main, set for September 2, will be applied to the overall Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions title chase once the feature is complete.

The postponed main event, which will be conducted separately during the originally scheduled Dirt Classic Ohio on Saturday, September 2, will only feature the drivers who pre-qualified during completed preliminary events. Drivers that accepted provisional starting positions on July 16 will have an opportunity to negate that decision, but must do so today, Saturday, June 17, and deliver that decision to an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions official. Alternates, based on respective C-main and B-main results, may be given an opportunity to participate during the make-up feature if pre-qualified drivers are not present for the make-up event. Only the drivers present during the Ohio Sprint Speedweek opener at Attica Raceway Park will be eligible to race in the make-up feature.

Justin Peck Masters Mighty Macon Speedway for Arctic Cat All Star victory

MACON, IL (June 10, 2017) – Becoming the eighth different driver to stand in Macon (IL) Speedway victory lane during Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions competition, Justin Peck is now an Arctic Cat All Star winner, ultimately leading 37 of 40 laps to score a first-ever Series victory and the largest payday of his young career. The Monrovia, Indiana, native, who recently graduated from high school, started sixth on the feature grid and was within striking distance of the top spot by lap three. Impressively enough, Peck earned his way into the Arctic Cat All Star main event by winning his respective heat race – without a nose wing.

“Honestly, this is kind of a shock,” Justin Peck said during his victory lane interview, driver of the Duracoat/Axalta Coatings/Pro Shocks/DRC/No. 5X. “I owe this all to my crew; everyone that is involved with this team. This is such an awesome feeling.”

Paul Nienhiser and Chad Kemenah led the 24 feature starters to green on Saturday night at the “World’s Fastest 1/5-Mile Clay Oval.” Kemenah jumped to the early advantage, followed to the infield flagstand for the first time by Nienhiser and Justin Peck. Despite getting the early jump, Kemenah’s tenure at the top of the running order was short-lived, soon tracked down by Peck. The 18-year-old worked his way into the runner-up position by lap three, eventually driving around Kemenah with a high side hustle move through turns one and two on the following circuit.
