Sam Hafertepe, Jr. Holds On for Lucas Oil ASCS Victory at St. Francois County Raceway

FARMINGTON, Mo. (August 20, 2016) The debut of the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network at the St. Francois County Raceway came down to the final lap as Sam Hafertepe, Jr. narrowly held off local track champion, Joey Montgomery, at the line to win the Dean Adams Classic.

Leading from the drop of the green, the race’s third and final caution flew as the leaders took the white flag. Going back to the last fully completed lap, the final rounds were a dogfight as Hafertepe worked every inch of the quarter-mile oval to hold off Montgomery, who had marched to second from the 10th starting spot.

“I told everybody all night that No. 5 car was probably the best car here,” commented Sam who notched his seventh National Tour win of the season. “I knew he started back pretty far. We were so good for so long, I wasn’t sure where he was and I was getting through lapped traffic pretty good, but thank God the race wasn’t one more lap.”

KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 6, 2016) – For the second time in Knoxville Raceway history, a driver has added the 360cid and 410cid Nationals Championship to their Trophy Case as Sammy Swindell parked the A.G. All the things we did yesterday, they were all right. We hit it on the head and I couldn’t ask for anything any better.”

Park Jefferson Int. Speedway Next In Line For Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour

TULSA, Okla. (July 25, 2016) The road to Knoxville is a little shorter as the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network heads for the southeastern corner of South Dakota for a little Thursday Night Thunder this week.

Thursday, July 28, the Park Jefferson International Speedway, located just south of Jefferson, S.D. will welcome the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network for the first time with the “Sioux City Summer Slidefest” thanks in part to Pepsi.

A little history on the South Dakota oval, before the sound of horsepower, headlined events at Park Jefferson, it was the sound of Horses as the facility has been a Horse Track until closing in 1982. Purchased by Ted Carlson in 1984, grandstands were trucked in from University of Minnesota football field and track reshaped to a four-tenths mile, high-banked oval. Closing in 2012, the track was purchased by Adam Adamson in February, 2014 and re-opened in June of that year.

Taking advantage of track position, Herrera commented on the run by saying, “The track got rubber down a little more than last night so I was just trying to keep my stuff straight and just work to them and let them mess up until I heard or saw somebody. I never really did but I still tried to keep a good pace but I knew Sam and those guys were coming.”

Thanking sponsors, family, and crew, Herrera has now won the last three outings at the South Dakota oval with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, Herrera has 17 overall victories with the National Tour.

Blake Hahn Wins Night 1 of the Lucas Oil ASCS Grizzly Nationals

BELGRADE, Mont. (July 8, 2016) While Mother Nature tried to rain on Blake Hahn’s parade, the skies dried and Blake Hahn led start to finish for his first Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network A-Feature win of 2016.

Topping the opening night of the Randash Auto Center Grizzly Nationals, Hahn was greeted in Victory Lane by the race’s mascot, a 900lbs Grizzly Bear named Adam who presented Blake his trophy.

On the subject of the Bear, Hahn said simply, “I don’t know what to say about the Bear other than it’s awesome. Talk about a once in a lifetime experience.”
“Oh man, I just have to thank these fans for sticking it out and staying for this great race,” said Hahn to a packed house at the Gallatin Speedway who stayed through three rain delays. “We love racing up here. These tracks are really racey and just seem to fit our driving style. We were really excited to come here. This track just looked really fun, and it was fun.”

Sam Hafertepe, Jr. Sweeps the Lucas Oil ASCS Brownfield Classic at Grays Harbor Raceway

ELMA, Wash. (July 2, 2016) Sam Hafertepe, Jr. made it a perfect weekend at the Grays Harbor Raceway, winning the finale of the 2nd annual Fred Brownfield Classic with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.

“I don’t even know what to say anymore. It’s awesome,” said Hafertepe of his sixth Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour win of the season.

“To get out to the lead like we did, I knew Wayne [Johnson] was going to be tough. He was tough last night too. He gets around here pretty good so I knew he’d try the bottom on me and would be moving around searching but when I got out front, I got pretty comfortable and didn’t want to really push it too hard, just try to catch the lapped cars at the right time and squeeze past one of them and not burn my tires off because it started laying rubber there on entry. I just tried to drive a smart race and try not to make any mistakes.”

ASCS National Tour Speedweek Belongs to Sam Hafertepe, Jr. With Lucas Oil Speedway Victory

WHEATLAND, Mo. (June 18, 2016) It was a night of firsts for Sam Hafertepe, Jr. On a cushion fit for a king, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. was unstoppable in his first win at the Lucas Oil Speedway; marking his second victory of the 2016 ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek and Bob Westphal Memorial Cup.

(ASCS/Terry Ford Photo)
With the pair of wins, four top-fives, and a top-ten every night of the 2016 edition of the ASCS Speedway, Hafertepe scored his first Speedweek Championship with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.
Sam’s third win on the season, the Keith Dobbs Motorsports No. 15h traded nearly a half-dozen slide-jobs with Brad Loyet for the race lead. Hafertepe commented on the race by saying, “Oh man, me and Brad [Loyet] had it going. It was a hell of a race. If these fans don’t like that, I don’t know what you’re going to like because that was awesome. Brad raced a hell of a race. I got into him off the fourth turn there, but he knows we’re both going for it and he’d done the same to me. He raced me clean and hard.”
Taking off from fourth, Hafertepe shot the runner-up spot on the opening lap with Matt Covington leading the way. Caution on Lap 2, Hafertepe took full advantage of the restart. Getting the slide on the No. 95, with Loyet following to second, Hafertepe began to run away from the field. Finding traffic working the ninth round, the fast line was the top and the task of passing the slower cars was easier said than done.

Brad Loyet Masters the Historic Half-Mile with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour

SEDALIA, Mo. (June 17, 2016) After a terrible night at the track on Thursday at the Creek County Speedway, Friday’s performance at the Missouri State Fair Speedway made the sting disappear as Missouri’s Brad Loyet parked the Vacuworx Global/Buddy Loyet Motorsports No. 05 in Victory Lane for the second time in 2016 with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, and first time at the “Historic Half-Mile”.

Speedweek’s first repeat winner, Loyet gave chase the first 17 laps before finding the line around the Missouri State Fair Speedway and leader, Channin Tankersley, as the pair began to clear slower traffic.

“To win here is really cool. I’ve always wanted to pick up a win here at the “Historic Half-Mile” so now my names on the list but, it definitely wasn’t easy. Channin [Tankersley] was setting a really quick pace out there and I didn’t know if I was going to catch him. I though lapped traffic was going to help me, but it actually hurt me getting into the dirt air and throwing up a lot of dust,” commented Loyet, who is not third in Speedweek standings.

Herrera Holds Off Hafertepe at the Line at Hartford Speedway

HARTFORD, Mich. (June 3, 2016) The debut event for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network and Great Lakes Super Sprints at the Hartford Speedway set the bar high as Johnny Herrera held off the hard charging No. 15h of Sam Hafertepe, Jr. by a matter of feet at the line for his second ASCS National score of the 2016 season.

“I was no good on the restarts. It would take me a couple laps to get going and Sam was better. Even the initial start, he could get going better than I could and I knew that going into that last yellow and I just thought man, I’m going to be in trouble,” commented Herrera. “I was balled up on the right rear just sliding across the racetrack and I think Sam was maybe a little better so I actually ran into three really hard on the last lap because he was going to come hard and I missed the bottom and luckily I did that because he was coming.”

Third times a charm on the A-Feature start, Herrera was able to out gun the No. 15h to the bottom for the race lead. With the low line of the Hartford Speedway the preferred line, cautions were prime time for Hafertepe to get the run on the MVT No. 45x. Despite the tremendous runs however, Herrera was able to keep the door shut on the Hwy. 79 Collision No. 15h.

Reutzel Eyes Northern Loot after Landing First ASCS National Win of 2016

CLUTE, Texas (May 19, 2016) – It was just a matter of time until reigning Lucas Oil ASCS National champion Aaron Reutzel broke through for his first series win of 2016.

Reutzel finally got that first series win of the year out of the way by racing to victory lane in last Saturday night’s Texas World Dirt Track Championship finale at Fort Worth’s Texas Motor Speedway aboard the Shark-powered Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/BC Fundz No. 87 Triple-X Sprint Car.

Reutzel’s win in the seventh round of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition this season ran his overall total to three victories after collecting earlier Regional wins at Willis, TX, and Jackson, MS.

Aaron Reutzel Earns His First Lucas Oil ASCS Texas World Dirt Track Championship

FT. WORTH, Texas (May 14, 2016) An emotional victory turns around a lackluster start to his Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network title defense as Aaron Reutzel captured his first National Tour victory of 2016 at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track for his first Texas World Dirt Track Championship win.

“Man that was awesome. You know, going out there we knew it was going to be rubber down, and you figured the pole guy would win that one, but they left us just enough top to get up there and get to them. Johnny, I really thing, was better than us and if we hadn’t had the restart we would have ran second but we were just good enough to get him on that restart,” commented Aaron in Victory Lane.

“I got a perfect start and ran the top perfect. After that I never did go back up there and just held on the rest of the night, but I really liked running the top in the beginning because I knew I was saving my right rear while the rest of those guys were burning theirs off so I knew I could go harder, longer, than the rest of those guys. This is kind of an emotional win. We’ve been struggling so hard lately and I’m just glad Marty hasn’t given up on me. I’ve pretty hard on him because I had a hell of a year last year, so it’s been tough. I also need to thank my wife, Shelbey. I just can’t thank her enough.”

Seth Bergman Eyes Three-Peat at Texas World Dirt Track Championship

FORT WORTH, Texas (May 9, 2016) – Seth Bergman, a native of Snohomish, Wash., may not be a Texan, but knows the importance of wearing a cowboy hat when visiting the Lone Star State.

Now Bergman is looking to add to his collection of cowboy hats when he returns May 13-14 for the Texas World Dirt Track Championship.
Bergman became just the fourth driver in Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track history with two sprint-car wins when he earned consecutive victories in 2014 and ’15. This year he will be pursuing multiple cowboy hats during the Texas World Dirt Track Championship weekend as the series will host championship features Friday and again Saturday.

CLUTE, Texas (March 31, 2016) – Second place isn’t typically what Aaron Reutzel and the Shark-powered Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/BC Fundz No. 87 Triple-X Sprint Car team are looking for.

TULSA, Okla. (February 26, 2016) Winning races is the goal of any team. But winning consecutive, high paying events; now that’s a challenge. Enter the Lucas Oil Triple Crown. A $50,000 carrot that awaits any driver who can top three of the Midwest’s biggest ASCS events in 2016.

Which events? For starters, you have to win the finale of the Arnold Motor Supply ASCS 360 Knoxville Nationals at the famed Knoxville Raceway. Next, you’ll have to top the High Roller Classic at the Missouri State Fair Speedway. The final step; winning the final night of the Hockett/McMillin Memorial at the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks” at the Lucas Oil Speedway.

“We wanted to tie together three big events, that are easy for drivers to get to and with Knoxville announcing an increased payout, plus the High Roller going to $15,000 to win, and the Hockett/McMillin going to three days and $10,000 to win, they made the choice of events easy, plus, it just adds to the excitement that these events are already building,” said ASCS National Coordinator, Matt Ward. “We can’t thank Lucas Oil enough for their continued support of ASCS and the drivers in making it possible to put together the Triple Crown.”
