Mike Ordway, Sr. won the 50-lap ISMA Supermodified feature, Randy Cabral won the 30-lap NEMA Midget feature event, and Norm Wrenn made it three in a row at Stafford by taking the 25-lap Pro-4 Modified feature event.

In the 50-lap ISMA Supermodified feature event, Bobby Magner took the early lead with Danny Lane, Eddie Witkum, Jr., and Jeff Locke behind him. Rob Summers spun and found the turn 1 wall to bring the caution out with 1 lap complete, sending him to an early exit.

Back under green, Magner charged to the lead with Lane, Locke, Witkum, and the side by side duo of Lou Cicconi and Mike Ordway, Sr. behind him. On lap-4, both Cicconi and Ordway moved by Witkum, with Mike Lichty also getting by Witkum on lap-5. The caution came back out with 7 laps complete for Larry Lenhert, who dropped off the pace and was leaking fluid. Magner again took the lead on the restart with Cicconi charging into second. Lane, Ordway, and Lichty were now the top-5 cars when the caution came back out with 10 laps complete for a spin by Dave Duggan.

[Photo Gallery] by Nicholas Teto

Magner kept himself at the front of the pack on the restart while Ordway sent his car deep into the corner and came out with second place. Ordway then rode behind Magner until lap-23 when he moved to the front of the field.

Once Ordway was out front, he was never seriously challenged until the caution came back out with 37 laps complete. After several more caution periods, the race restarted for the final time on lap-41 and Ordway drove away from the field to take the victory. Lichty came home in second, with Russ Wood, Chris Perley, and Locke rounding out the top-5.

In the 30-lap NEMA Midget feature event, polesitter John Zych, Jr. dropped off the pace and brought out the caution. Zych was able to get his car restarted and he rejoined at the end of the field. Jim Miller took the lead on the restart and held the early lead ahead of Greg Stoehr, Chris Deritis, Erica Santos, and Cole Carter.

Randy Cabral started the race in 9th position and he was picking off nearly a posititon a lap and was in the top-5 at lap-5. On lap-8, Cabral moved by Santos for fourth place and he took third from Deritis on lap-11. Cabral quickly ran down Stoehr for second and was all over Stoehr’s bumper by lap-14. Cabral took the spot from Stoehr on lap-16 and then set his sights on Miller for the lead.

Cabral caught Miller on lap-18 and tried several times to get a run to the inside of Miller, but Miller was hanging tough and maintained the race lead. As the two leaders encountered lapped traffic, Miller took the low line while Cabral took the high line and the high line paid off on lap-27 as Cabral went to the front. From there Cabral pulled away and nailed down the victory. Miller came home second, with Carter, Deritis, and Santos rounding out the top-5.

In the 25-lap Pro-4 Modified feature took the green with Rob Richardi, Jr. powering to the outside of Phil Lausier to take the early race lead. Adam Norton was quickly on the move and he took third place behind Richardi and Lausier on lap-3. Norton continued his charge to the front, moving by Lausier for second before the caution came out with 6 laps complete for a spin by Dave Richardi.

Richardi continued to hold the lead on the lap-7 restart, but it was a short stay at the front as Norton moved to the front of the pack on lap-8. Norton’s pass left the door open for both Brian Vincent and Norm Wrenn to follow Norton by Richardi, dropping him from the lead back to fourth place.

Wrenn ran behind Vincent until lap-12 when he made the pass to take over second place. With the 12th lap complete, the caution came back out for a spin by Lausier. Wrenn moved ahead of Norton for the lead on the restart, but Norton was able to move back by Wrenn before they came back to the stripe to maintain the race lead. Richardi went around for a second time to bring the caution out with 14 laps complete.

Wrenn powered past Norton on the restart to take over the race lead. Norton kept Wrenn in his sights over the final laps and he was able to mount one final challenge on the last lap, but he came up just short at the checkered flag as Wrenn made it three CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday Pro-4 Modified victories in a row. Norton finished second, with Tyler Anderson, Vincent, and George Sherman rounding out the top-5.

Adam Norton and Norm Wrenn took the checkers in their respected heat races.

Phil Lauiser brought the field to the green on the initial start of the feature, but it wasn’t long before Rob Richardi, Jr. was able to make the pass for the lead. By lap two 11th place starter, George Sherman, was up to 5th place while Adam Norton and Tyler Anderson were also on the move through the pack.

Dave Richardi, #00, had problems on lap 5, as he fell through the field to the back of the pack. On lap 7, he and #11a of Danny Meservey, Sr. spun and Richardi made contact with the wall, drawing the first caution of the night.

Richardi, Jr., and Norton held the front row on the restart, followed by Sherman and Lausier. Norton was able to get under Richardi, Jr., for the lead on the restart, and Brian Vincent and Wrenn followed through. At this point, the pack sorted out single file until Wrenn and Richardi, Jr. teamed up to pass Vincent on the low side but Vincent was able to hang strong on the outside.

The second Caution of the evening was drawn at lap 12 when Lausier spun. At the restart, Norton lead Wrenn, Vincent, Richardi, Jr., and Sherman. On the start #83 Frank Perry was unble to get up to speed and another caution was thrown. With another try, the field was once again under green as the top four cars held a tight pack around the track. Two laps later, Dave Richardi made contact with the wall one more time bringing out another caution. This time on the restart it was Wrenn who captured the lead, and held that position of the remainder of the race. He was followed by Norton, Anderson, Vincent, and Sherman.

Lee, NH — The RF Logic/ Bot-L Gas Pro Four Modifieds of New England visited Lee USA Speedway this Friday for their second race within a week. Dave Richardi and Phil Lausier took down the checkers in the heat events. Stan Mertz, #16, had mechanical malfunctions in the practice sessions and was unable to take the green.

George Sherman and Lausier lead the field to the green in the 25 lap event. By lap three the caution was already thrown when D. Richardi went spinning into the grass at the entrance of turn one. On the restart, Lausier held strong on the outside, while #12 Rob Richardi, Jr. tucked in line behind Sherman for second place. By lap four, Sherman began pulling away from the rest of the pack, while the battle for second heated up between Richardi, Jr. and Brian Vincent. Richardi, Jr. fought hard on the outside for several laps, until he fell off the pace a bit on lap 10 and then settled into seventh position behind Cory Cleary, who was driving #07x, usually piloted by Robin Berghman.

At the half way point Sherman lead the single file field of Vincent, Adam Norton, Tyler Anderson, Lausier, Cleary, Richardi, Jr., D. Richardi, Mark Charette, and Billy Joerres. On Lap 14, Sherman had began to lap the back of the pack and held a full straightaway lead over field by lap 17. Lausier took a short ride through the grass on lap 19, but was able to keep it rolling and join the pack without caution, allowing Sherman to keep his monumental lead over second place finisher Adam Norton.

Sherman grabbed the checkers for the first time in 2010, followed by Norton, Vincent, Anderson, and Cleary.

This is just some of the talent and that’s why they call the Alliance the “universe” because it’s full of STARS.

Winchester, NH — With 15 cars on hand, the RF Logic / Bot-L Gas Pro Four Modifieds of New England put on a fast paced show at Manadnock Speedway this weekend. The heat races went green to checkers without any cautions with George Sherman and Robin Berghman picking up the wins

Sherman and Phil Lausier lead the pack to the green in the feature. By the end of lap one Lausier was able to tuck in line for second but was feeling pressure from behind by #25 Tyler Anderson, who was followed by Brian Vincent, Rob Richardi, Jr., and Norm Wrenn.

Back in the pack action was heating up as last place starter was putting some pressure on #00 Dave Richardi for the 9th position. By lap 9 the leaders began to catch the rear of the field and put Mark Charette and Mark Giordano down a lap. At the halfway point it was Sherman still leading Lausier, Anderson, Vincent, Wrenn, Richardi, Jr., Norton, Dan Meservey, Frank Perry, and D. Richardi.

Five laps later the first caution was thrown as Giordano went spinning. A few moments both D. Richardi and race leader, Sherman, followed in suit, but Sherman was rewarded the top spot back as he had spun after the caution was thrown. At the time of caution, Vincent was in and out of the pits, as Perry and Meservey both pulled off of the track and ended their nights.

On the restart, Richardi, Jr., had a mechanical malfunction but the field made it by successfully as he made his way to the infield. The top four of Sherman, Wrenn, Anderson and Norton battled hard for position until the second caution on lap 19 when Vincent slowed on the backstretch and then pulled into the pits.

With 10 to go on the restart, Wrenn got a good jump and was able to pass Sherman on the outside. Norton and Anderson then both looked to the outside of Sherman while the rest of the pack stayed single file. With three to go, Norton completed the pass on Sherman, and in the last turn Anderson made a hard change to do the same but came out short. It was Wrenn capturing the checkers for the second this in his second race of 2010, followed by Norton, Sherman, Anderson, and Berghman. Berghman was the recipient of a gift card to Joe’s Racing Products for finishing in the fifth position.

Official Finish:

2. 01- Adam Norton

Seekonk, MA — Hello all! I return for the day stepping in while Amy is away. There were seventeen cars that made the event at Seekonk Speedway. After a series of hard hitting thunderstorms earlier in the week it was not clear if the weather would hold off long enough to get some racing in. The day started off nice with comfortable weather and clear skies, but as it progressed it became more and more humid.

Over the course of the day there were four practice sessions for teams to get their cars adjusted. There were not any incidents during the practices. All the cars looked good, not leaving a whole lot for teams to do for fine tuning.

For the first heat it would be #00 Dave Richardi on the poll with brother #12 Rob Richardi, Jr. on the outside. The boys were all quick on the accelerator on the drop of the green flag. #00 Richardi a bit loose on the back straight on the first lap giving way for #10 Brian Vincent to pass him low and #12 Richardi, Jr. following in his lead. The group remained tight throughout all ten laps making for some good Pro 4 racing for the fans. #10 Vincent grabbed the checkered flag for the first heat.

In the second heat it was #16 Stan Mertz on the poll with #99 Billy Joerres on the outside. #99 Joerres jumping on the green, pulled to the front of the pack. That would quickly change as #07x Robin Berghman passes #99 Joerres coming out of turn two getting to the back straight. Berghman set the pace for the whole ten laps, gaining a comfortable lead by the fifth lap. #83 Franky Perry trying to catch her in the final two laps runs very close to the infield hitting the curb but remained in control of his car. #07x Berghman clinched the checkered flag with ease for the second heat.

With a little down time before the start of the main event the Pro 4 drivers had a chance to interview for Beth Fuller. Coming from Foxboro Cable Access Beth and crew of Ray McKenna, Lauren Bitar, and Matt Shea are producing a promotional video to be aired locally in Foxboro, MA. Jim Darlington is coordinating segments of future races so that they can be aired in your community to help promote the Pro 4’s and gain a wider fan base throughout New England. If you are interested on having the video air on your own community cable channel please get in contact with Foxboro Cable Access to have a DVD sent, or for more information contact Jim Darlington.

To get things started for the feature it once again was #00 Dave Richardi on the pole and #12 Rob Richardi, Jr. on the outside. The boys were both on the neck and neck heading down the front straight as the flagger started the race. Things quickly came to a halt as the first caution was called on lap four. #99 Billy Joerres lost control and spun in turn two. For the restart it was #12 Richardi, Jr. on the pole and #00 Richardi on the outside. As fast as the green was dropped the yellow was back out. On the restart #29 Matt Sagar, #13 George Sherman and #86 Mark Charette collide in front of the flaggers tower with Charette literally hopping over #29 Sagar. #13 Sherman was sent into the wall of turn one, taking damage to his front and side nerf bars. #86 Charette had a broken front axle. In the mix of all this we also lost two more cars, #07 Phil Lausier got his car stuck in gear and #07x Robin Berghman broke her steering rack. #29 Sagar was able to return to the track after a quick check in the pits for the restart. As they lined up once again it was #12 Richardi, Jr. back on the pole and brother #00 Dave on the outside. The front group of seven stayed tight on the restart for the next three laps as they dropped into single file row. On lap nine #10 Brian Vincent was closing in on #12 Richardi, Jr. for the front position. As they rolled into lap ten on the front straight #12 Richardi, Jr. started to have sparks flying out from his engine. Dropping out to determine what the problem was gave #10 Vincent a clear shot for the lead. After getting into the pits Richardi, Jr. found that his starter wire had disconnected itself. With Vincent out front it was #25 Tyler Anderson and #01 Adam Norton in hot pursuit in the second and third spots. It was a battle for second for the remaining laps of the race, as #25 Anderson was able to keep #01 Norton in his rear view.

Vincent started to pull away with a three car lead by lap seventeen. As the guys drove into lap twenty #1M Norm Wrenn was on the tail of #01 Norton. As #10 Vincent crossed the finish line for the win, not far behind #01 Norton pushing his car to the limit was fighting for second with #25 Anderson came loose in turn four but is able to keep from spinning out of control. It was looking scary there for a moment.

Collecting his first win for 2010, the Seekonk Speedway winner is #10 Brian Vincent, in second is #25 Tyler Anderson, in third #01 Adam Norton, fourth goes to #1M Norm Wrenn and to round off the top five is #83 Franky Perry. For the Limited Division it was #99 Billy Joerres in first and #86 Mark Charette taking home second.

Congratulations to Brian Vincent and team for a fantastic win at Seekonk Speedway. Don’t forget to return for some more Pro 4 racing action on Saturday June 19th at Monadnock Speedway. ; ) -Sarah

Scarborough, ME — The RF Logic / Bot-L-Gas Pro Four Modifieds of New England successfully completed their second race of the season this Saturday as part of Beech Ridge Motor Speedway’s Pro All-Stars Series opener event. The special 35 lap main event was preceded by two qualifying heat events, where #25 of Tyler Anderson and #01 of Adam Norton took the checkers.

Stan Mertz of Whitinsville, Ma and Phil Lausier of Hudson, NH lead the field to the initial green of the feature. Lausier stayed in the high grove to make the pass on the green while fourth place starter, Anderson, followed in line. Rob Richardi, Jr. quickly jumped in line and also made the pass.

By lap two the action began to heat up further back in the pack as #4 of Cory Cleary got tangled up in the high grove and ended up in the wall. When the caution was clear and the pack took the green it was Lausier leading Anderson, Richardi, Jr., Mertz, and George Sherman. On the restart it was #10 of Brian Vincent who was on the move. He and Sherman teamed up to pass Mertz and set their sights for the front of the field.

Meanwhile, Anderson took a look to the outside of Lausier for the lead, made the pass, and put a few car lengths distance between the two, while #99 of Billy Joerres pulled off the track for a quick pit stop. On lap six Vincent was able to get by Richardi, Jr. on the inside, and Norton followed through. All the while, #00 of Dave Richardi and #11a of Dan Meservey battled for the eight position further back in the pack.

The caution flag flew again on lap 13 when Lausier went spinning after contact with Norton. At the restart it was Anderson, Norton, Richardi, Jr., Sherman, and Kurt Vigeant in the top five. After some heated racing for third by Vincent and Richardi, Jr., momentum was lost when Anderson was spun and Norton was sent to the rear for the assist on lap 19. Richardi, Jr. and Vincent where given the front line and were followed by Sherman, Vigeant, and D. Richardi.

On the green it was Richardi, Jr., who got the lead, but the field was slowed up again for a spinning #34 of Mark Giordano on the front stretch. When they restarted once more, it was Vincent who was quickest off the line and took the lead but just three laps in, Mertz slowed and entered the infield pits as Sherman began to blow smoke from his car. D. Richardi looked high to avoid but met with the wall and ended his night, causing the final caution of the event.

With nine laps to go the field took the final green, lead by Vincent and Richardi, Jr. as Norton was fighting hard for the inside line. He made the pass by #10 and #12 on lap 30 and by lap 32 all the cars were in single file formation until the completion of the event, where Norton picked up his first win of the season.
