Jonathan Cornell Scores at Double X Speedway with ASCS Warrior Region

CALIFORNIA, Mo. (May 28, 2017) Getting his first ASCS sanctioned victory of the 2017 season, Sedalia’s Jonathan Cornell made it career win No. 32 with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps at Double X Speedway in the annual Tribute to Jesse and Daniel.

Going from the outer lane of the front row, Cornell never relinquished the lead during Saturday’s 25 lap A-Feature with the runner-up spot going to Kyle Bellm, who came through the field from the eighth starting spot. Lexington’s Brad Ryun was bronze on the finish. Fourth went to Taylor Walton and fifth to Cody Baker.

Baker would end up in Victory Lane on Saturday night in a special Non-Wing feature event put up by the Hockett family.

Bellm Embarks Upon Weekend Triple – Shows Strong Speed at Lucas Oil Speedway

NIXA, Mo. (May 11, 2017) – A big weekend of racing action is on tap for Kyle Bellm and the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car team with three nights of competition beginning on Thursday night.

It gets under way with Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour action at Kansas City’s Lakeside Speedway before two nights of ASCS Regional competition on Friday and Saturday at Humboldt (KS) Speedway and Springfield (MO) Raceway.

“We have had decent success at all three of these tracks, so we’re looking for some good runs this weekend,” Bellm said of the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision team. “I’m super confident in what we have going on right now.”

ASCS Red River at Humboldt Followed By ASCS Warrior Rematch At SpringfieldRED RED

TULSA, Okla. (May 10, 2017) Following the ASCS National/Warrior pairing at Lakeside Speedway on Thursday, the fun continues in ASCS Regional competition on Friday, May 12 at Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kansas with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products, followed by a regional rematch as the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps joins the fun on Saturday, May 13 at Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo.

First visited by the ASCS Red River Region in 2016, Humboldt Speedway provided a nearly perfect surface that allowed Missouri’s Kyle Bellm to make his way to Victory Lane. Banking $2,000 for his efforts, Bellm is primed to defend his Kansas victory is the season’s only ASCS appearance at the three-eighths mile bullring. Bellm is the second driver to score an ASCS win at the Humboldt Speedway as Glen Passmore first got the job done in pre-ASCS Regional competition on April 24, 1998.

Friday, May 12 at Humboldt Speedway gets underway at 7:30 P.M. (CDT) and includes Modifieds, B-Mods, Factory Stocks, and Sport Compacts. Admission is $17 for adults. Brad Loyet Off the Final Turn Wins ASCS Regional Showdown at Lucas Oil Speedway

WHEATLAND, Mo. (May 6, 2017) Winning out over a three car battle with a last lap pass to seal the deal, Missouri’s Brad Loyet returned to ASCS victory Lane at Lucas Oil Speedway in the regional showdown between the between the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products and the Speedway Motors Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Warps.

Taking the green from the third row in the sixth annual Impact Signs Open Wheel Showdown, the Vacuworx No. 05 of Loyet wasted little time moving forward as Jonathan Cornell took the early advantage from the pole starting position.
Up to second on Lap 9, Loyet was joined by Oklahoma’s Alex Sewell the following lap as the pair stalked the No. 28. Taking over the runner-up spot from the No. 05, Sewell slid his way into the lead on Lap 13. Fending off slide jobs from the No 28, the Sedalia ace finally reclaimed the top spot on the 18th circuit.

Still anyone’s race as Brad moved back to second with seven laps to run, it all came down to the final turn. Charging the bottom of turn three in second, the slide job off the final turn was gold with Loyet picking up the evening’s $2,000 winner’s check.
The runner-up finish is the best of the season for Cornell after three races with Alex Sewell likewise posting his best ASCS result so far in 2017. From seventh, Josh Baughman crossed fourth with New Mexico’s Johnny Herrera fifth from 14th. Evan Martin crossed sixth with Washington’s Gary Taylor seventh from 16th. Finishing eight was Dustin Morgan with a run from 19th followed by Cody Baker and Mile Paulus to complete the top-ten.

ASCS Red River At Flint Creek Before Facing ASCS Warrior Region at Lucas Oil Speedway

TULSA, Okla. (May 2, 2017) The month of May is off and running, and the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region is set for competition in Oklahoma and Missouri this Friday and Saturday night as the series returns to Flint Creek Speedway in W. Siloam Springs, Okla. on Friday, May 5 before teaming up with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Warps for the Impact Signs Open Wheel Showdown at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday, May 6 in Wheatland, Mo.

Having sat dormant during the 2016 season, the quarter-mile Flint Creek Speedway will re-open this Friday for weekly competition throughout the 2017 season. The last visit by the American Sprint Car Series came on September 4, 2015 ended with New Mexico’s Johnny Herrera picking up the win.
For the Impact Signs Open Wheel Showdown, this marks the second year that the ASCS Red River and Warrior Regions have teamed up at the Lucas Oil Speedway. In the 2016 edition, the nod went the way of the Red River Rebels as eventual season champion, Brandon Hanks, topped a field of 38 strong. In 2015, it was Jonathan Cornell who stood atop the highest podium step with Randy Hibbs scoring a victory in 2014. Won by rain in 2013, the inaugural event ended with the night’s top prize in the hands of Randy Martin.

Bellm Second in ASCS Warrior Action at Moberly

NIXA, Mo. (April 28, 2017) – Kyle Bellm and the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car team were oh so close to the first victory of the season, landing solid runner-up honors in last Saturday’s ASCS Warrior event at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Missouri.

“I feel like we left one on the table,” Bellm says. “We have things working well, it feels good knowing that.”

This weekend’s plans had included more ASCS Warrior action on Friday night at Fulton’s Callaway Raceway and then the re-opening of Lake Ozark Speedway on Saturday night. However, both events have already fallen victim to rain.

Mother Nature Washes Out ASCS Warriors at Callaway Raceway

TULSA, Okla. (April 28, 2017) With heavy rain already soaking the grounds of the Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Mo. and little to no relief in sight, officials with the facility have made the call to cancel Friday’s event with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.

The event will not be rescheduled.

Attention now turns to the Impact Signs Open Wheel Showdown at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. on Saturday, May 6. The race is a regional double-header with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products.

Callaway Raceway Next For ASCS Warrior Region

TULSA, Okla. (April 25, 2017) A Friday night under the lights awaits the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps as the Missouri-based series makes its way to Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Mo. for the first time in 2017 on Friday, April 28.

The first of two trips to the quarter-mile oval in 2017, with their next showing slated for June 30, the series last visit on July 1, 2016, was topped by Randy Martin, who drove to his 47th career victory this past Saturday at Randolph County Raceway.

With his first Warrior Region victory of the season in hand, Martin leads the way into Friday night with defending series champion, Jonathan Cornell, currently trailing by seven markers. Overcoming a rough start to the season at Missouri State Fair Speedway, Taylor Walton rebounded with a fifth place finish in Moberly, Mo. to move to third in tour standings.

Bellm Notches Top-Five at Sedalia – ASCS Warrior Action at Moberly Next on Saturday

NIXA, Mo. (April 21, 2017) – Kyle Bellm and the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car team picked up some strong momentum by racing to a solid fifth-place Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour finish atop Sedalia’s ½-mile Missouri State Fairgrounds clay oval last Saturday afternoon.

With inclement weather already nixing this weekend’s Air Capital Shootout at Wichita’s 81 Speedway, Bellm and the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision team will take on the ASCS Warrior Region at Moberly’s Randolph County Raceway on Saturday night.

Last Saturday’s card at Sedalia started in unusual fashion with Bellm drawing a low number to start on the pole of the day’s first heat race.  Bellm took full advantage by picking up the heat race win aboard the VP Racing Fuels/Schure Built Suspensions mount to earn a spot in the redraw.

Lucas Oil ASCS National Lineup Updated with Two Dates in Missouri

TULSA, Okla. (March 6, 2017) The 2017 lineup for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, as well as the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps has been updated as Randolph County Speedway in Moberly, Mo. has been added to Sunday, March 26.

Originally slated for Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo. the “Historic Half-Mile” has been moved to Sunday, April 23.

“The Fairgrounds in Sedalia have been working on renovating the concession area, and right now, the project is behind so rather than try and have a race in March that would get in their way and cause problems for them, we got with the crew at Randolph County Raceway and they are willing to let us move the race over to their track in Moberly,” said event promoter, Gerry Olson.

Lake Ozark Speedway Returns to ASCS Warrior Lineup in 2017

TULSA, Okla. (March 1, 2017) Exciting news for race fans in Missouri broke earlier this year when it was announced that Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo. would resume operation in 2017. Dormant since 2012, the track will feature weekly racing as well as several special events, which includes four nights of competition with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.

The first date for the ASCS Warriors at the Eldon, Mo. oval is June 24, which pairs with the series debut at Heartland Park Topeka the day before.

Joining the Red, White, and Blue Weekend, action returns on July 1 with Double X Speedway the following night. The final appearance of the season will be September 16, just ahead of the season finale at the Hockett/McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway the following weekend.

ASCS Lineups Grows Beyond 150 Races With More In the Works

TULSA, Okla. (February 3, 2017) The 26th year of the American Sprint Car Series gets underway with the Lucas Oil ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints at Tampa’s East Bay Raceway Park and the 41st East Bay Winter Nationals and Ronald Laney Memorial.

A three day affair with the winner walking away with $10,000 is the start of a 154 race lineup for the drivers of the American Sprint Car Series in 2017, which consists of seven regional tours along with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.
For drivers chasing ASCS Championships, nearly $400,000 in point fund is up for grabs with the biggest prize of $60,000 going to the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Champion. Entering the 2017 season, Texas native Sam Hafertepe, Jr. stands as the defending champion.

ASCS Warrior Region Readying for 2017 Season

TULSA, Okla. (December 27, 2016) Readying for the 2017 season, the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps is lining up for dates across Missouri and into Kansas.

With 19 confirmed on the lineup, an additional four dates are still being worked out. For the 2017 season, the series will see dates combined with the ASCS Red River Region as well as the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.

Kicking off the season at the Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia on March 26, this will be the first pairing on the season between the ASCS Warrior and ASCS National Tours. In all, the “Historic Half-Mile” will see action twice with the second date also a Regional/National pairing on August 20.

Reutzel Takes Momentum to Missouri

CLUTE, Texas (September 15, 2016) – The deeper into the season it gets, the more momentum Aaron Reutzel seems to be gaining.

Over the past two weekends, Reutzel has added another signature win with a $10,000 Jackson Nationals triumph aboard the Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/BC Fundz No. 87 Triple-X Sprint Car and then posted an NSA Shootout runner-up finish this past weekend in Shane Liebig’s No. 55 Sprint Car.

It’s momentum that the reigning Lucas Oil ASCS National champion from Clute, TX, looks to carry into this weekend’s ASCS Warrior Region double at Kansas City’s Lakeside Speedway on Friday and then Sedalia’s historic half-mile on Saturday before National Tour action resumes next weekend at Wheatland’s Lucas Oil Speedway.

Coming Up: ASCS Warrior Double At Lakeside and Missouri State Fair Speedway

TULSA, Okla. (September 11, 2016) Taking laps in Kansas and Missouri this weekend, the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps will be in action on Friday, September 16 at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan. followed by the Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo. on Saturday, September 17.

The season’s second ASCS sanctioned event at Lakeside Speedway, the season’s earlier National/Warrior affair was topped by Brian Brown. A standalone event for the Warrior Region, the last time the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps headlined at Lakeside Speedway was August 17-18, 2012 which saw Jack Dover and Danny Lasoski splitting the weekend atop the four-tenths mile oval.

Race No. 6 on the season at the Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo. four drivers have won at the “Historic Half-Mile”. Brian Brown is the only driver with two, having won the last pair of outings. Brandon Hanks, Jonathan Cornell, and Brad Loyet have taken the other three wins.

Sam Hafertepe, Jr. Holds On for Lucas Oil ASCS Victory at St. Francois County Raceway

FARMINGTON, Mo. (August 20, 2016) The debut of the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network at the St. Francois County Raceway came down to the final lap as Sam Hafertepe, Jr. narrowly held off local track champion, Joey Montgomery, at the line to win the Dean Adams Classic.

Leading from the drop of the green, the race’s third and final caution flew as the leaders took the white flag. Going back to the last fully completed lap, the final rounds were a dogfight as Hafertepe worked every inch of the quarter-mile oval to hold off Montgomery, who had marched to second from the 10th starting spot.

“I told everybody all night that No. 5 car was probably the best car here,” commented Sam who notched his seventh National Tour win of the season. “I knew he started back pretty far. We were so good for so long, I wasn’t sure where he was and I was getting through lapped traffic pretty good, but thank God the race wasn’t one more lap.”

Missouri State Fair Speedway Lights Up Thursday Night With The ASCS Warrior Region

TULSA, Okla. (July 26, 2016) A nice tune up for Missouri teams and fans for the High Roller Classic on Sunday, August 21, the Missouri State Fair Speedway will see a Night of Stars at the “Historic Half-Mile” on Thursday, July 28 as the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps along with Modifieds make their way to Sedalia, Mo.

Presented by Central Bank and Subway, the Thursday night spectacular will feature not only a complete night of racing, but will also settle a burning question. Who is faster? For a best two out of three faceoff, Brian Brown and Danny Lasoski will go head-to-head to see who will claim the family honor.

Along with two of Missouri’s most noted Sprint Car names, one of racing’s biggest names will also be on hand as Kenny Schrader will bring his Federated Auto Parks No. 9 to do battle with the Modifieds.

The Clyde Wood Memorial Goes to Jonathan Cornell at Double X Speedway

CALIFORNIA, Mo. (July 24, 2016) He won it before, and he’s won it again, Jonathan Cornell is seemingly unstoppable at the Double X Speedway, this time taking the win in the 14th annual Clyde Wood Memorial with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.

Podium finish No. 10 on the season, the win counts as Cornell’s 30th overall triumph with the Missouri based region of the American Sprint Car Series.

No easy task to claim this year’s $2,500 top prize, the Kiowa Line Builders No. 28 rolled off eighth in the 22 car field while California’s Randy Martin rolled from outside the front row into the lead on the start over Wyatt Burks.

Jonathan Cornell Notches ASCS Warrior Win No. 29 With Randolph County Raceway Score

MOBERLY, Mo. (July 16, 2016) For the 29th time against the Speedway Motor ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps, Sedalia’s Jonathan Cornell parked the Kiowa Line Builders No. 28 in Victory Lane.

Cornell’s fourth win of the season with the ASCS Warriors, the Saturday night triumph came at the Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo. The make-up from the rained out event during the Red, White, and Blue Tour, the event still carried the $1,776 top prize.

Chasing Randy Martin the first 17 rounds, a Lap 16 restart proved useful for Cornell as the No. 28 shot the high line to the lead.
Kyle Bellm came from seventh to second in the Jeff Smith Racing No. 86 with Tyler Blank scoring a $300 bonus as the night’s Hard Charger thanks to Valley Park West and Key Choice Realty. Blank came from 11th to third with John Schulz and Randy Martin slipping back to round out the top five.
Curtis Boyer was sixth with Danny Thoman, Evan Martin, Lanny Carpenter, and Broc Elliott making up the top-ten. Heat Races were won by Austin Alumbaugh and Randy Martin with the Heats presented by Midwest Specialty Flooring and Overhead Door of Columbia. The A-Feature was presented by Tiger Towing.

ASCS Warrior Region Rained Out at Double X Speedway

TULSA, Okla. (July 3, 2016) Overnight rain with more on the way has brought an end to events on Sunday, July 3, at the Double X Speedway in California, Mo. with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.

The race will not be rescheduled.

The next outing for the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps will be Saturday, July 16 at the Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo. The date was rescheduled from the Red, White, and Blue Tour and will pay the increased purse of $1,776 to win.

The event, which offered up a winner’s check of $1,776 has been rescheduled to Saturday, July 16, 2016 and will carry the increased purse.

Randy Martin Rules ASCS Warriors at Callaway Raceway

FULTON, Mo. (July 1, 2016) Randy Martin added career victory No. 46 to the history books, topping night one of the 2016 Red, White, and Blue Tour with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps as the Callaway Raceway.

Leading the distance in Friday’s 25 lap $1,776 to win Tiger Towing A-Feature, Martin was chased to the line by Jonathan Cornell with Iowa’s John Schulz completing the podium. Kyle Bellm from seventh was fourth with Mitchell Moore fifth; pocketing an extra $300 as the night’s Hard Charger thanks to Valley Park Retirement Living and Key Choice Realty.

Taylor Walton was sixth with J. Kinder seventh. Danny Thoman crossed eighth followed by Tyler Bank who rolled from 17th to ninth. Cody Baker rounded out the top-ten.

ASCS Warrior Region Rained Out At Callaway Raceway

FULTON, Mo. (June 3, 2016) — Rescheduled after rain washed out the A-Feature on April 29, Mother Nature got a jump on things as steady rains have started to fall with more on the way, forcing track officials with the Callaway Raceway to call off tonight’s races with Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.

The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps is scheduled to return to action on June 10 at the U.S. 36 Raceway in Cameron, Mo. with the Budweiser Shootout featuring $500 to win Heat Races on top of the night’s $1,500 to win A-Feature event.

Bellm Posts Top-Five at Sedalia; Sets Sights on Double X

NIXA, Mo. (May 26, 2016) – Kyle Bellm picked off his second top-five finish in as many starts at Missouri’s State Fair Speedway this season by taking the checkered flag fifth in last Friday night’s 25-lap ASCS Warrior Region feature event atop “The Historic Half-Mile.”

With one more idle weekend before Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour action kicks into high gear, Bellm and the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car team will take in another round of ASCS Warrior competition with Sunday night’s Tribute to Jesse and Daniel “Take it to the Tail Challenge” at California, Missouri’s Double X Speedway.

“I’m excited to get back to Double X this weekend, it’s always a lot of fun to race there,” the driver of the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision entry commented.  Bellm won a pair of features at the tight, quarter-mile clay oval when he last competed there in 2014.

NIXA, Mo. (May 19, 2016) – Kyle Bellm sets his sights on Friday’s ASCS Warrior Region event at Sedalia’s Missouri State Fair Speedway after grinding through a pair of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour nights at Fort Worth’s Texas Motor Speedway last weekend.

Bellm drove the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car into the feature on both Texas nights against a stout field of more than 40 competitors to close in on the top ten in series points.

“It wasn’t great, but we did make the show both nights,” Bellm says. “It could have been a lot worse.”

Brandon Hanks Triumphs in Impact Signs Open Wheel Showdown at Lucas Oil Speedway

WHEATLAND, Mo. (May 7, 2016) For the third time in 2016, Tennessee’s Brandon Hanks parked his D&B Farms/Moose Tracks No. 84 in Victory Lane, topping the Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps Open Wheel Showdown at the Lucas Oil Speedway.

The co-sanctioned event with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps and the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products, the event drew 38 drivers to the Lucas Oil Speedway.

Brandon’s third overall win on the season, the win counts as Hanks’ first with the Red River Region, and second with the Warrior Region.

Brian Brown Earns First Career Lakeside Speedway Victory with Lucas Oil ASCS

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (May 5, 2016) Nothing is as sweet as a hometown victory, and for Brian Brown, it’s a win that’s been a long time coming as the FVP/Casey’s General Store No. 21 broke into Victory Lane at the famed Lakeside Speedway for the first time in his career; topping the McCarthy Auto Group KC Klassic presented by Racinboys.com.

Becoming the fifth different winner of the season with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network in 2016, Brown’s win in the Impact Signs/Weld No. 21 is the 16th time that Brown has topped the National Tour, and fifth consecutive year he has earned a Lucas Oil ASCS victory.

“We’ve led a few Outlaw races and let them slip away, but no we hadn’t before tonight,” said an overjoyed Brian Brown in Victory Lane when asked to confirm this was in fact his first Sprint Car victory at Lakeside Speedway.

Rain Cuts ASCS Warrior Region Short at Callaway Raceway

FULTON, Mo. (April 29, 2016) With cars headed to the staging area, it looked as if the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps was going to win the race against Mother Nature, but the top came in and the bottom fell out as rain swept across the Callaway Raceway.

ASCS Warrior Region officials are currently working with the Callaway Raceway for a date to reschedule. The date, to be announced, will be a complete program.
Three Heats for 23 drivers did see action at the Callaway Raceway with plenty of racing to at least curb the race fan’s appetite. In the first Heat alone, three drivers led laps with Randy Martin taking the win. Heat two saw Brad Loyet take the lead just before the half-way point for a runaway victory. The final Heat was all Evan Martin.

All drivers will receive show up points based off car count. As the A-Feature lineup showed all 23 starting, all drivers will receive 87 points.

ASCS Warrior Region Takes On Callaway Raceway Friday Night

TULSA, Okla. (April 25, 2016) With the 2016 season off and running, the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps gets back to action on Friday, April 29 at the Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Mo.

First seeing the ASCS Warrior Region in 2014, Jonathan Cornell picked up the series debut victory on July 4, 2014, during the series Red, White, and Blue Tour. Rebounding from a massive flip in the 2016 season opener at the Missouri State Fair Speedway, Cornell picked up his first podium finish of the season in Warrior competition this pastSaturday night at Springfield Raceway, pushing the VKCC Motorsports No. 28 into the points lead going into Friday night.
Trailing by only 17 points, Lone Jake, Missouri’s Cody Baker holds second with Even Martin holding third. Austin Alumbaugh is currently fourth with Danny Thoman completing the top-five in tour standings.

John Carney II Tops Exciting ASCS Red River/Warrior Region Showdown at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (April 23, 2016) The first showdown of the season between the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products and the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs was a thriller as El Paso, Texas shoe John Carney II walked away with the night’s $2,000 score at the Springfield Raceway.

Being a co-sanctioned event, the win counts as Carney’s first with the ASCS Warrior Region, and second in ASCS Red River competition.
