Outlaws Thunder Through the Plains with Missouri, Kansas Stops

INDIANAPOLIS (May 3, 2017) – It’s a throwback weekend for the World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Sprint Car Series as “The Greatest Show on Dirt” returns to a pair of tracks entrenched in the sport’s roots. Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing’s (TSR) Donny Schatz will lead the traveling Sprint car stars back to familiar soil this weekend as the Outlaws thunder through the plains, making stops Friday at State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Missouri and Saturday at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas.

Schatz, the eight-time and reigning WoO champion, and TSR’s Arctic Cat/Ford Performance-backed team are looking to begin the month of May in similar fashion as they kicked off the 2017 campaign in February. The team was performing at an incredible pace in Florida and is looking forward to a busy slate of action this month with the goal of building momentum for the heat of summer.

The biggest obstacle the past few weeks for Schatz and his crew of Rick Warner, Steve Swenson and Brad Mariscotti has been Mother Nature. Two weeks ago, a weekend of action was washed out and, last weekend, an Indiana doubleheader was reduced to a single event at Plymouth Speedway, where Schatz raced the TSR No. 15 Arctic Cat/Ford Performance/Curb J&J to a fourth-place finish.

CONCORD, NC- May 2, 2017– The World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series is adding an additional event to the 2017 schedule. On Sunday, September 24, the Series will take the track at 81 Speedway in Park City, KS for the first time ever.

The 3/8-mile clay-oval is the third and final stop during the Series swing through the Great Plains. Fifteen full-time drivers and crews will invade Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS on Sept. 22 and Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, OK on Sept. 23 before touching down at 81 Speedway on Sept. 24. The initial dates for the swing through the Great Plains was set for April, but due to saturated grounds from excessive rain, the dates have since been moved from the Spring to the Fall.

“We are trying to do the best with the best,” said 81 Speedway promoter C. Ray. “We have the opportunity to have the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Cars here this coming week on May 6, and the opportunity to have the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Models is very special considering we haven’t had a big Late Model show here for probably five years. We are trying to address all different types of fans in our area, so it’s very important we have big shows with Sprint Cars, Late Models, Modifieds, and all of the big traveling programs; and it doesn’t get any bigger than the World of Outlaws Late Models.”

Bellm Notches Top-Five at Sedalia – ASCS Warrior Action at Moberly Next on Saturday

NIXA, Mo. (April 21, 2017) – Kyle Bellm and the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car team picked up some strong momentum by racing to a solid fifth-place Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour finish atop Sedalia’s ½-mile Missouri State Fairgrounds clay oval last Saturday afternoon.

With inclement weather already nixing this weekend’s Air Capital Shootout at Wichita’s 81 Speedway, Bellm and the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision team will take on the ASCS Warrior Region at Moberly’s Randolph County Raceway on Saturday night.

Last Saturday’s card at Sedalia started in unusual fashion with Bellm drawing a low number to start on the pole of the day’s first heat race.  Bellm took full advantage by picking up the heat race win aboard the VP Racing Fuels/Schure Built Suspensions mount to earn a spot in the redraw.

Continued Wet Forecast Forces 81-Speedway Officials to Call Off Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout

PARK CITY, Kan. (April 19, 2017) Officials at 81-Speedway have made the decision to call off this weekend’s rescheduled Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout as this weekend’s forecast has not come below a 90 percent chance of rain on during Friday’s, April 21 opener, only to give way to a 50 percent chance on Saturday, April 22.

The race will not be rescheduled for a third time, but the dates for next year’s event have been announced for March 30-31, 2018.

“It’s hard to have to call of a race, but with the rain chances as high as they are, we’d rather have the race called early so the teams can find other options to fill their weekend,” said ASCS Red River Region director, Terry Mattox. “We’re already looking at the dates for next year and making sure we can co-sanction again.”
