Derek Ramstrom Prevails in PASS North Super Late Models at Star Speedway

Epping, NH  Leading early and often, Derek Ramstrom of West Boylston, Massachusetts earned his first Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model win this season in the Support 50 Legs 150 Saturday night at Star Speedway.

Ramstrom won his heat race to earn a front restarting position, then outdueled fellow heat race victor Joe Squeglia of Derry, New Hampshire over the first half of the event.  Berwick, Maine’s Joey Doiron moved into contention, mounting a serious challenge to Ramstrom’s lead with just over 50 laps remaining.

Doiron, racing hard in the outside groove, led a couple of laps while side-by-side with Ramstrom before the two got together a bit in turn four, opening the door for Travis Benjamin to make a three-wide move to the lead.  Benjamin, of Belfast, Maine managed to hang on to the top spot for over twenty laps, but with a car best set up for long runs, he was unable to fend off Ramstrom on late-race restarts.

Big Month Continues for PASS North with Star and Montmagny On Tap

NAPLES, ME (May 11) – The next two weekends of action loom large for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models with races in New England and Canada.  And perhaps more importantly, the chance for an international cast of drivers to get locked into August’s 44th Annual Oxford 250 and the chance to win over $25,000.

Following a rainy weekend off, attention focuses back on the rescheduled Support 50 Legs 150 at New Hampshire’s Star Speedway.  Saturday afternoon’s Support 50 Legs 150 will help raise awareness in providing amputees with the necessary care and prosthetics, that they could not otherwise afford, and to help them live a happier and healthier life.

Former Oxford 250 winner, Glen Luce, leads a pair of former series champions that are tied for second in points, Ben Rowe and DJ Shaw, by 25 points heading to this weekend’s 150 lapper at Star.  But, Dave Farrington, Jr., Garrett Hall, and Johnny Clark are all within striking distance of the leaders.  Saturday’s schedule of activities has been shifted slightly, with heat races now going green at 3:30 PM.

Driver and Owner Meeting Confirms 2017 Série ACT Season Very Promising

The Managing Director responsible for the Quebec auto racing association for asphalt stock car championship Late Models, Série ACT, confirmed he was very happy with the meeting at Trois-Rivières this past weekend.

Marc Patrick Roy, the Managing Director for Série ACT, who was present in Trois-Rivières for the meeting, declared that the participation at the meeting went way beyond his expectations. “The 37 people representing 22 teams in attendance, is beyond our initial expectations. Add to those present 6 other teams who had informed us of their absence, ahead of time, and I can confirm, beyond any doubt, that the competitors have a huge interest in our races and in the continued presence of the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) sanction in Quebec.”

In addition to discussions around race day procedures and specific items in the rule book, Roy took the time to listen to the teams on various subjects in order to address, as best as possible, their challenges, with the ultimate objective of offering the best possible stock-car racing for the fans, while taking in consideration the economic realities associated with campaigning for an elite Championship.

Patrick Cliche Hangs on for Montmagny 150 Win

Montmagny, QC – Patrick Cliche edged out Alex Labbe at the line for his second win of the season in the Montmagny 150 at Autodrome Montmagny on Saturday, August 31. Cliche appeared to be cruising to victory until the fourth and final caution flew on lap 135.

Cliche battled with Donald Theetge during the first half of the event as the two swapped the lead on the first three restarts. The event then went caution free from lap 54 til lap 135. Cliche had built a comfortable lead as he caught lap traffic and began working his way through. In the meantime, Labbe was charging to the front from his 14th place starting position.

It appeared Labbe would run out of laps to catch Cliche until the final caution flag flew. Labbe started to the outside of Cliche but quickly fell in line after the green. Cliche protected the bottom as Labbe worked over his back bumper looking for any mistake over the final 15 laps. The opening finally came as they charged off turn four coming to the checkered flag. Labbe worked his way under Cliche and they drag raced to the line. Cliche took the win by just .052 seconds.

Montmagny, QC – Patrick Cliche of St-Jean-Chrysostome, Quebec scored his first career Série ACT win in the Montmagny 100 at Autodrome Montmagny (QC) on Saturday, July 27. Cliche worked his way from his 12th starting position to 4th on a lap 75 restart. He inherited the lead after the caution flew once again on lap 75 and sent the top three cars to the rear. Patrick Hamel and Steven Boissonneault battled for the lead over the first half of the event with Hamel taking the advantage until a caution on lap 75. Donald Theetge Wins Fight for Serie ACT 250 Victory

Montmagny, QC – Donald Theetge of Boischatel, QC won a fierce battle with current Série ACT point leader Patrick Cliche to claim the victory in the Montmagny 250 at Autodrome Montmagny on Sunday, June 30. Theetge pocketed over $4,000 after stealing the win in the final ten laps.

Theetge and Cliche climbed through the field, from 13th and 15th respectively, during the early stages of the 250 lap event and used the same strategy of pitting for tires on the lap 139 caution. The two worked their way back through the field to setup a spectacular final 50 laps. For the second race in a row, Cliche led the most laps of the event but each one of them had Theetge on his rear bumper looking for any mistake or opening. Theetge pulled even with Cliche on the inside line several times, but each time Cliche would power back by on the outside.

With fifteen laps to go, the duo was battling heavy lap traffic when Theetge turned up the tempo. While coming up on a lap car entering turn one with just six laps to go, both drivers overdrove the corner causing an eight wheel slide. The pair gathered their cars back up for the drag race down the backstretch and Theetge finally got the advantage entering turn three. Cliche made several more attempts to get back under Theetge but to no avail.
