Labbé Eyes Série ACT Title

Alex Labbé of St. Albert, Quebec will return to the Série ACT full time in the #48qc Larue Industrial Snow Blower Ford Fusion for Denis Larue. Desjardins Ford, Garoy Construction, and Orleans Express will also provide sponsorship.

“We will obviously try to win the championship here in the Quebec tour. I am also looking forward to perform really good at the big races like the International 500, the Invitational at Loudon and the Milk Bowl. Even if I had a really good run (there last) year, I want a come back this year and be as competitive …  and win that thing!”

Labbé is looking to build on the momentum from last year’s runnerup points finish. Labbe ended the season with four consecutive top fives, including back to back wins at Circuit Riverside and Autodrome Montmagny. The Can-Am 200 win gave Labbé a starting spot in the Bond Auto Invitational. Labbé finished 11th in the Bond Auto Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

ACT 2014 Schedule Released

Waterbury, VT — The American Canadian Tour (ACT) released its 2014 schedule which is highlighted by visits to nine (9) different Northeast tracks. The schedule includes a total of twelve (12) events with nine (9) Championship point counting events and three popular ‘special’ events on the calendar.

The traditional event to open the 2014 campaign on April 12-13 will once again be at the Lee USA Speedway in Lee, New Hampshire. The ACT has been visiting the 1/3 mile oval since Red and Judy MacDonald purchased the speed plant in 1987. “It is just one of those relationships that have endured throughout the past 25 years. We tried to help Red and Judy when they first started, and they have been there for us whenever we needed help over the years. This kind of relationship, in this type of business, is generally very rare, but greatly appreciated” said Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour, which was established in 1986.

The home of the ACT, Thunder Road International Speedbowl will host its only point counting event with the Merchants Bank 150 on opening weekend April 26-27. Next up will be the historic Spring Green 114 to be held at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Fair Haven, VT on Sunday, May 4. Alex Labbe Marches to ACT Riverside St-Croix Can-Am Win

Alex Labbe of St-Albert, QC led the final 80 laps of the American Canadian Tour Can-Am 200 at Circuit Riverside Speedway Saturday, August 24 on his way to his first Série ACT win of the season. Labbe held off runner-up finisher Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. over the last several restarts to claim the victory in the combination ACT US and Série ACT QC event. It was his second career Série ACT win and first since joining the Larue Industrial Snow Blower team in 2013.

Pole sitter Jean-François Déry jumped out to the early lead over the first 27 laps until Wayne Helliwell, Jr. climbed his way from his ninth starting position to challenge for the lead. The pair would swap the lead several times through numerous restarts with Helliwell leading the majority of the first 120 laps. On lap 121, Labbe jumped to the point and would never relinquish the lead. Polewarczyk made several attempts to steal the win but could not find the grip on the outside and settled for second just ahead of Déry.

Patrick Hamel and Dany Trepanier battled their way from the 17th and 18th starting positions respectively to complete the top five. Ben Lynch came home sixth just ahead of Claude Leclerc who recovered from a late race incident that shuffled him back to outside of the top ten. Welch, Stearns Heat Up Heading To Beech Ridge

Both Banking On Crazy Horse’s Flat-Track Success This Week

SOUTH PARIS, Maine – When Quinny Welch ran headlong into misfortune last weekend, it may have served to fuel an old adage: “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.”

Welch, who had reeled off two straight wins at White Mountain Motorsports Park, was collected when the leaders wrecked on the final lap while running in the Top-5 at the track last Saturday night. He never saw the checkered flag. But with the help of his own crew and some others, Welch pulled an all-nighter and made repairs to his No. 78 IBEW Local 104 Chevrolet – then hauled over to Canaan Fair Speedway to finish sixth in the Subway Fresh Fit 150 on Sunday.

Now, Welch will have Crazy Horse Racing give the car a good once-over this week before entering the ACT Late Model Tour Beech Ridge 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, this Saturday night.
