DCRP Season Opener Around the Corner

DODGE CITY, Kan. (March 28, 2017) – It’s nearly time to flip the page of the calendar to April.  And that means we’re well into the countdown towards opening night of dirt track racing action that is just over two weeks away at Dodge City Raceway Park.

The 2017 season kicks off at the state-of-the-art 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval on Saturday night, April 15, with a full slate of championship chase action including Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.

The April 15 season opener will go green at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are just $15 for adults with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult.  Pit passes are $30.

DCRP & Longdale Speedway Working Together to Better Racing in the Region

DODGE CITY, Kan. (February 16, 2017) – In an era in which some racetracks seem to come and go on a frequent basis, the two most well-established tracks in the Northwest Oklahoma-Southwest Kansas region continue to work together to establish the stability and strength of racing in the area.

Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, KS, and Oklahoma’s Longdale Speedway both rank as the premier dirt track racing facilities within their respective states.

Individually, both tracks have worked successfully to build solid regular programs along with special events.

DCRP Set for 2017 with Banquet in the Books

DODGE CITY, Kan. (February 1, 2017) – The focus shifts to the upcoming 2017 season with this past Saturday night’s Dodge City Raceway Park Awards Banquet officially putting the 2016 season in the books.

More than 200 attendees took in Saturday night’s festivities at the Western State Bank Expo adjacent to the 3/8-mile DCRP clay oval with the top contenders in each of the track’s five championship chase divisions recognized during the evening.

Taking top accolades in each division were Taylor Velasquez in Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, Nick Link in IMCA Modifieds, Kevin Tabor in IMCA Sport Modifieds, Michael Pepper in IMCA Stock Cars and Matt O’Hair in IMCA Hobby Stocks.

DCRP’s Best of 2016 to be Honored Next Saturday

DODGE CITY, Kan. (January 19, 2017) – Another big season of racing action is just around the corner with the April 15 season opener at Dodge City Raceway Park less than three months away.

But first, it’s time to honor the top contenders in each of the weekly divisions atop the 3/8-mile clay oval at the Saturday night, January 28, DCRP Award Banquet at the Western Expo Banquet Center located adjacent With another banner season in the books at the picturesque Dodge City Raceway Park in southwest Kansas, all that remains is the annual awards banquet.

World of Outlaws Return to DCRP in 2017 as Track Schedule Released

DODGE CITY, Kan. (November 1, 2016) – After a year’s absence, the Craftsman World of Outlaws Sprint Car series will return to the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval in southwest Kansas in 2017 as the track’s schedule was released today.

The two-night World of Outlaws stand set for October 27-28 highlights a strong schedule of events that includes 14 nights of competition over the course of the year.

The return of the world’s premier Sprint Car series marks the first World of Outlaws events at DCRP since Jason Sides and Donny Schatz split top honors on July 3 and 4 of the 2015 season.

Velasquez Vies for Three-Peat in Saturday’s DCRP Season Finale

DODGE CITY, Kan. (September 20, 2016) – Over each of the past two years, Taylor Velasquez has found himself in Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car vs. URSS victory lane as the curtain has come down on the Dodge City Raceway Park season.

He’ll look to make it three in a row this Saturday night as DCRP wraps up the 2016 season with the Fourth Annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas with racing action going green at7:00 p.m. 

And if he can park it in DCRP victory lane once again, it will also put the wraps on the track championship, though he has to do little more than take the green flag in the feature event to secure the title.

One More Night at DCRP in 2016

DODGE CITY, Kan. (September 14, 2016) – One more night of competition is all that remains on the 2016 slate of action at the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park in southwest Kansas.

And that takes place next Saturday night, September 24, with the Fourth Annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship event. 

The September 24 finale will bring the curtain down on an action-packed season that has included 15 previous nights of action building up to the conclusion that will crown five track champions in the track’s divisions of Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Carney & Martin Capture “Boothill Showdown” Steve King Memorial Honors

DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 3, 2016) – John Carney II and Jason Martin came away with the big money by winning Sunday night’s “Boothill Showdown” Steve King Memorial finale atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.

Carney II pocketed a $10,000 winner’s share by winning a hard-fought 30-lap NCRA Sprint Car feature in the return of the Lubbock Wrecker Service/Steward Builders No. 11x Sprint Car, Martin wired the URSS vs. Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars for a $2,000 payday and Kiwi native Glenn Waterland completed a sweep of the weekend’s Colorado Lightning Sprints presented by Eagle Chassis action.

Boothill Showdown Finale Postponed until Sunday

DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 2, 2016) – Inclement weather has forced the postponement of Saturday night’s scheduled “Boothill Showdown” Steve King Memorial event at Dodge City Raceway Park until Sunday night, July 3.

Several small showers during the afternoon to top off heavy overnight rains along with more heavy storms on the way this evening have negated any chance of racing on Saturday night.

Times remain the same for tomorrow’s makeup date with front gates opening at 5:00 p.m. and racing going green at 7:30 p.m.

Dover & Cranston Top Boothill Showdown Prelims

DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 1, 2016) – Nebraska’s Jack Dover and reigning track champion Luke Cranston took top honors on the opening night of Dodge City Raceway Park’s “Boothill Showdown” Steve King Memorial by winning Friday’s features.

While Dover raced to victory lane in the 20-lap NCRA Sprint Car feature and Cranston topped the 20-lap URSS vs. Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car feature, Glen Waterlund made a trip to victory lane as well by winning the 12-lap Colorado Lightning Sprints presented by Eagle Chassis main event.

In the 20-lap NCRA Sprint Car feature, Springfield, Nebraska’s Dover tuned up for Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win finale by racing past reigning Steve King Memorial champion Tony Bruce, Jr., on the fifth round en route to victory lane.

Cranston & Lunow Headline Saturday Night DCRP Winners

DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 18, 2016) – Luke Cranston and Mike Lunow were among Saturday night’s winners at Dodge City Raceway Park as championship chase action continued atop the 3/8-mile clay oval.

While Cranston took advantage of lapped traffic in the closing laps to win his first Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car feature of the year and Lunow denied a late challenge from Clay Sellard for IMCA Modified honors, other Saturday night winners included Jeremy Sigler in IMCA Sport Modifieds, Michael Pepper in IMCA Stock Cars and Cody Davis in IMCA Hobby Stocks.

In the 15-lap DCRP Sprint Car feature, Ness City native Cranston ran third for the initial 11 circuits before taking advantage of a Koby Walters bobble to take second on the 12th lap and then using a lapped car to take advantage of race-long leader Mike Peters on the 13th lap.

Late Models & Title Chase Action Saturday at DCRP

DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 3, 2016) – While Late Models make a rare Dodge City Raceway Park appearance on Saturday night, the event will also mark another critical round of competition for three of the track’s championship chase divisions.

With the NCRA Late Models headlining Saturday’s card, it’s Kevin Tabor, Michael Pepper and Cody Davis leading the IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks into the event that goes green at 7:30 p.m.

The Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars and IMCA Modified are back in action next Saturday night, June 11.

NCRA Late Models at Dodge City on Saturday

DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 1, 2016) – Late Model racing fans, your time is here as Late Models will take to the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval in southwest Kansas for the only time of 2016 this Saturday night.

Saturday’s tilt at DCRP will mark the third round of competition this season for the touring NCRA Late Model series.

DCRP – The Month Ahead

DODGE CITY, Kan. (May 27, 2016) – Those living in and around Dodge City, Kansas can go ahead and set their Saturday night plans for the month of June. And those plans should include being at Dodge City Raceway Park.

The 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas will be in action every Saturday night in June, building up to the blockbuster $10,000-to-win NCRA/NSL Sprint Car “Steve King Memorial” event on July 1-2.

Following an idle Memorial Day weekend at the state-of-the-art facility, the busy month of June kicks off Saturday night, June 4, with the return of Late Models to the Dodge City track.

Velasquez Nabs First DCRP Sprint Car Win of the Year

DODGE CITY, Kan. (May 21, 2016) – Saturday night’s 20-lap Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car feature boiled down to a tense duel between the defending track champion and the current points leader atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.

When the checkered flag finally flew on the full moon event, it was current points leader Taylor Velasquez getting the better of reigning champ Luke Cranston on a lap 14 restart to capture his first win of the year aboard the Bearcat Well Service/Fronk Oil Company No. 21x Sprint Car.

While Velasquez topped a wild nightcap, Cole Traugott extended his recent domination of the IMCA Modified ranks, Mike Roach emerged atop a hard-fought IMCA Sport Modified main event, Michael Pepper pounced on another IMCA Stock Car win and Cody Davis delivered another IMCA Hobby Stock victory.

Dodge Daytona Roundup & Car Show Saturday at DCRP

DODGE CITY, Kan. (May 19, 2016) – There will be more than the high-octane championship chase action on the track at Dodge City Raceway Park on Saturday night.

Saturday’s event also features the Dodge City “Dodge Daytona” Roundup car show at the 3/8-mile clay oval.

Souped up Dodge Daytonas from throughout the nation will converge upon Dodge City for a pre-race car show on Saturday. The Dodge Daytonas will be on display in front of the track’s main entrance beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Walters & Nusser Among Saturday DCRP Winners

DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 23, 2016) – Koby Walters and William Nusser were among Saturday night’s feature winners as championship chase action continued atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park.

While Walters and Nusser were both first-time DCRP winners in the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars and IMCA Modified ranks, respectively, other Saturday night winners included Jeff Kaup in IMCA Sport Modifieds, Michael Pepper in IMCA Stock Cars and Reagan Sellard in IMCA Hobby Stocks.

In Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car action, Liberal’s Koby Walters became the third different winner in as many rounds of competition this season by racing to victory lane in the 20-lap feature event.

Traugott Stampedes at DCRP as C.J. Johnson Takes Sprint Car Honors

DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 9, 2016) – Cole Traugott emerged atop a hard-fought 30-lap IMCA Modified feature event to take the $1,200 winner’s share in Saturday night’s Fourth Annual Modified Stampede atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.

While the Woodward, Oklahoma racer took the big Modified money, C.J. Johnson raced into the lead midway through the 20-lap Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car feature en route to victory lane with Jeff Kaup besting the IMCA Sport Modifieds and Cody Davis taking IMCA Hobby Stock honors.

The Modified Stampede lived up to all the hype and then some, with Traugott escaping contact with past IMCA National champion David Murray and then recapturing the lead from Nick Link in the closing circuits to capture his first DCRP win since June of last year.

DCRP Title Chases: The Early Look

DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 8, 2016) – With a successful opening night of racing logged into the books last Saturday, Round Two of championship chase action is set for Dodge City Raceway Park on what is forecasted to be a beautiful day in Dodge City.

Saturday’s action will feature the $1,200-to-win Fourth Annual Dodge City Modified Stampede along with DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Sport Modifieds and IMCA Hobby Stocks with racing action going green at 7:30 p.m.

While one race certainly doesn’t make or break a season, it’s never too early to take a look at the point chases.

Dodge City Modified Stampede this Saturday

DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 5, 2016) – Added money is on the line for the IMCA Modified ranks at Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday night as the state-of-the-art 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas hosts the Fourth Annual Dodge City Modified Stampede.

While the IMCA Modifieds battle it out for a $1,200 winner’s share, the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Sport Modifieds, and IMCA Hobby Stocks will be in action as well on the card that goes green at 7:30 p.m.

Oberlin’s David Murray, a multi-time IMCA Modified national champion, has topped three of four previous Dodge City Modified Stampede features including a sweep of both nights of the inaugural edition in 2013 and then another win in last year’s version.

Herbert Hangs on to Win DCRP Season Opener

DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 2, 2016) – Hometown shoe Brian Herbert caught a timely late caution to hang on to the win in Saturday night’s season-opening 20-lap Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car feature atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.

While Herbert captured his first DCRP feature win since May of 2013, Cody Gearhart made a late move to snare IMCA Modified honors, Dakota Sproul took IMCA Sport Modified honors in the closing stages, Tyler Tipton topped the IMCA Stock Cars and Iowa’s Shannon Anderson bested the IMCA Hobby Stocks.

In the DCRP Sprint Car feature, Herbert gunned into the lead at the outset from the pole position and led all 20 laps aboard the Myers Racing Engines No. 97 entry.

40 Days Until DCRP Season Opener

DODGE CITY, Kan. (February 22, 2016) – Forty days. That’s all that remains until Dodge City Raceway Park kicks off the 2016 racing season.

Opening night atop the 3/8-mile DCRP clay oval on Saturday, April 2, will feature the Precise Racing Products DRRP Sprint Cars along with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.

The April 2 opener will be the first of 17 action-packed nights of competition at the southwest Kansas track and the opening round of championship points action.

DCRP Awards Banquet Set for November 7

DODGE CITY, Kan. (October 8, 2015) – Dodge City Raceway Park finished off yet another stellar season of racing action with the recent Third Annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial on Saturday night, September 26. 

Now, all that remains is to recognize each of the track’s top competitors with the distribution of the hardware and point fund money at the track’s annual awards banquet. 

The Dodge City Raceway Park Awards Banquet will take place Saturday night, November 7, at the Knights of Columbus building at 800 West Frontview Street in Dodge City, KS.  Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., with dinner, served at 7:00 p.m. and the awards ceremony to follow.

USAC Southwest Freedom Tour Finale Saturday at DCRP

DODGE CITY, Kan. (August 18, 2015) – It happens just one time each year.  And that one time is this Saturday, as “traditional” Sprint Cars takes to the Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval this Saturday night.

Saturday’s card that fires off at 7:30 p.m. marks the final round of the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars Third Annual “Freedom Tour” for non-wing Sprint Cars.

It’s a four-race set of events that culminates at the 3/8-mile DCRP facility after kicking off at Oklahoma’s Lawton Speedway on Wednesday night before moving on to Creek County Speedway near Tulsa on Thursday and then Wichita’s 81 Speedway on Friday.

Trio of August Events on Tap at DCRP

DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 29, 2015) – Bikes, freedom and mayhem will be the general theme for Dodge City Raceway Park with a diverse slate of August events on tap following a sizzling month of July at the 3/8-mile oval in southwest Kansas.

The month of August at DCRP will include I-70 Flat Track Motorcycles, the USAC Southwest non-wing Sprint Cars and Sport Modified Mayhem.

It all gets under way next Friday night, August 7, with the first appearance of the I-70 Flat Track Motorcycles. The event marks the first of four rounds of competition that continues on at Colby and Stockton.

Bubak Bests United Rebel Sprint Series at DCRP

DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 24, 2015) – Reigning United Rebel Sprint Series champion Jake Bubak captured his third career Dodge City Raceway Park feature win by topping Friday night’s 25-lap main event that headlined First Responder & Driver Appreciation Night at the 3/8-mile southwest Kansas clay oval.

The 20-year-old from Arvada, CO, slipped past early leader Kris Moore on the seventh round and led the rest of the way for his second series win in as many weeks and first of the season in Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car competition as a full house watched on.

While Bubak took Sprint Car honors, other First Responder & Driver Appreciation Night winners included Clay Sellard in IMCA Modifieds, Dwayne Dechant in IMCA Sport Mod action, Randy Dowell in IMCA Stock Cars and Will Bauer in IMCA Hobby Stocks.
