Point Battles Kick Off for All Three Divisions of Stock Car Racing at Grandview on Saturday, April 21st

BECHTELSVILLE, PA April 17, 2018 . . . When NASCAR stock car racing gets the green flag at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 21st, two 10-time champions, Craig VonDohren and Jeff Strunk, will be trying to be the first to reach 11 championships. VonDohren has earned the T.P.Trailers 358 Modified championships the last three years and his strong third-place effort in the VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial last Saturday showed that he is ready for another strong season, perhaps a fourth straight title.

However, Jeff Strunk is also looking for a strong season as he goes after his 11th title and first since 2014. Duane Howard, another talented veteran, is a five-time champion and will be seeking his sixth title, last one won in 2012, during the 2018 season.

Make no mistake though it will not be all about VonDohren, Strunk, and Howard as the season gets underway with many young talents setting their sights on the lucrative title. Grandview Speedway is one of very few tracks, perhaps the only track, in the nation that affords racer the opportunity to win two titles, the NASCAR and track championships.

Stewart Friesen Wins VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial at Grandview, Kevin Hirthler Tops the Sportsman Field

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. April 15, 2018 . . . Mother Nature finally cooperated with the racing community on Saturday night and produced beautiful weather and the 56th racing season at Grandview Speedway got underway in front of a very large turnout of fans. Close to 50 small and big block Modifieds lined the pits to participate in the events leading up to the first annual Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker 50-lap race sponsored by VP Racing Fuels. The race was run in honor of the late Bruce Rogers, who passed away last March. Bruce, along with his father Forrest, built the track close to 60 years ago.

Three laps shy of a victory in the prestigious memorial event, Stewart Friesen wrestled the lead away from Mike Gular as the front runners had to deal with lapped traffic. Friesen held on and went on to collect the $7,500 top prize money along with beautiful hardware signifying the victory. In 2014 Friesen, now a regular in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition, won the season opener along with the rich Freedom 76 Classic.

Kevin Hirthler, doing double duty in the Modified and Sportsman divisions, took the lead when leader Ryan Lilick dropped out of action and chalked up the victory in the 25-lap Sportsman feature.

Two TP Trailers NASCAR Modified Features Part Of A.D.moyer Lumber Night at Grandview this Saturday, Sportsman and BRC Late Models Join the Action

BECHTELSVILLE, PA JULY 12, 2017 . . . After nine Saturday nights of T.P.Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified stock car racing at Grandview Speedway there have been no repeat winners. In fact two of the top three in the Modified point standings have yet to win a feature. Jeff Strunk, a ten time champion, goes into the Saturday racing program leading Craig VonDohren by just four points and VonDohren is without a feature win. Duane Howard is a close third in the points but also without a Saturday night feature win. Only Strunk has a win. To say competition has been tough for the Modified racers at Grandview would be putting it mildly.

Saturday night the A.D.Moyer Lumber sponsored night of racing will include two NASCAR 358 Modified feature races. The first feature having been left from a partially rained out show a few weeks back and then there will be the regular Saturday feature. Two great opportunities for new names to be added to the list of nine different winners or perhaps the opportunity for a repeat winner or two.

For those keeping tab of these figures, there have been nine Modified features run along with nine features for the Late Models and ten for the Sportsman.

Schutz Wins Firecracker 40 During Jam Packed Night of Racing at Grandview

Chuck Schutz Takes Home More Than $2000 as Winner of Firecracker 40 Late Model Race at Grandview, Whitmoyer Gets Second Win of the Season with NASCAR Sportsman, Mike Gular Gets First 2017 TP Trailers 358 Modified Win and Brad Grim Comes Home First in Second Sportsman Feature. Brett Peters Wins Vintage Feature

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. July 9, 2017, Fans that attended the racing action on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway certainly got their money’s worth. All feature events had side-by-side, three to four wide action throughout their respective shows that produced two repeat winners, two season first winners that included a first career win.

The highlight of the night was the Firecracker 40-lap BRC NASCAR Late Model feature that was won by defending point champion and current point leader Chuck Schutz for a payday worth in excess $2,000. Schutz, who last won the event in 2010, dedicated the win to long-time supporter Carl Knauer who passed away. It was a long race commented Schutz in victory lane and he’s glad he could conserve his tires and that they held up in the battles with runner-up Ron Kline, who last won the race in 2011.

The 30-lap T.P. Trailers 358 NASCAR Modified feature wasn’t decided until the drop of the checkered. Brett Kressley appeared to be on his way to another win, but coming in for the checkered he had to go high to get around lapped traffic. It was all Mike Gular, who has been knocking on the door of victory lane for several weeks, needed. Gular took advantage of the situation and dove underneath Kressley and it was a drag race to the finish line, but Gular parked the Rich Stankewicz-owned No. 2 in victory lane for the first time this year ending a six-year winless drought.

Bacon Brings the 63 Back to Eastern Storm Win Column in Opener at Grandview

Bechtelsville, PA………The sight of the black Dooling/Hayward Motorsports No. 63 winning an Eastern Storm feature has become oh, so familiar over the last couple of seasons.

Bryan Clauson raced to three wins in the five Pennsylvania starts with the car in 2016, including one at Grandview Speedway. When the calendar turned its page to 2017, there was no better tandem to build upon the groundwork that had been laid than the pairing of the defending Eastern Storm championship team and the reigning USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car driver titlist, Brady Bacon.

On Tuesday night, Bacon prevailed in a spirited late-race battle with C.J. Leary in which he took over the point in lapped traffic with three laps remaining to score his first USAC National Sprint Car victory in nearly a year and the first for the Dooling/Hayward team since Clauson’s 41st and final victory at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway last July.

“This one is really special,” Bacon said. “Bryan and I both liked to come out here. The fans were always great. He was really good out here. Hopefully, we’re making him proud that we’re out here and got it back in victory lane. I wish he was still here and maybe I wasn’t in this car, but that’s just the way it is.”

Knoxville, Iowa………In one of the most highly-anticipated events on the 2017 USAC calendar, Justin Grant made it a night to remember as he led wire-to-wire to win the AMSOIL National Sprint Cars’ return to the famed Knoxville Raceway Saturday night after a six-year hiatus.

Grant, of Ione, California, finished 25th in his lone Knoxville start back in 2011, but there’d be no parallels drawn from that result to his performance on the half-mile Saturday night as he was in a class of his own throughout the 30-lap main event.

However, early on in the night, Grant couldn’t have anticipated the end result would go as smoothly as it did following a rocky beginning. The team fine-tuned their way throughout the evening, swapping out parts and pieces on the Sam McGhee Motorsports/Mike McGhee & Associates – Brown & Miller Racing Solutions/Maxim/Foxco until they hit the sweet spot in time for the main event.

Krummel, Pfeil, Lilick, Myers and Cassel Score Features Wins at Grandview

Eleven different feature winners in NASCAR events so far this season

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. May 21, 2017 – Saturday night racing action finally returned to Grandview Speedway after two weeks off courtesy of Mother Nature with four different winners and one repeat winner in the respective classes in the T.P. Trailer and Truck Equipment sponsored night.

The T.P. Trailers 30-lap NASCAR 358 Modified Feature saw New York native Brian Krummel, who left his hometown track of Middletown, N.Y., mid-season last year to pilot the David Zubikowski Racing No. 17Z, finally had his dream come true when he captured his first career win at the track. An emotional victor, with tears in his eyes, thanked Zubi and the entire crew for giving him a wicked fast car. Being somewhat “gun shy” to go on the outside after what he encountered in the opener, Krummel was able to run the high line and felt at ease. An impressive field of 38 Modifieds were on hand can cut to 28 feature starters by four qualifying heat races.

Wayne Pfeil sporting a huge No. 7, dedicated to his father Wayne who passed away last year, with a smaller No. 72 in the middle; led the 25-lap BRC NASCAR Late Model feature from start to finish for his season first victory.
