Thompson Int’l Speedway Releases 2001 Rules and Car Number Registration Forms Plus New Name for Strictly Stock Division

Thompson, CT — Thompson International Speedway today announced that the competition rules for the 2001 racing season are now ready. The rules will pertain to the Sunoco Modified, Pro Stock, Late Model, Limited Sportsman and Mini Stock divisions.

Each regular competitor at Thompson during the 2000 season will be receiving copies of their respective division’s rules in the mail with days. “We want to make it convenient for all of our competitors, said track owner Donald Hoenig. By mailing a copy to everyone who raced here regularly during the past year, there will be no delays and each team will have plenty of time to review the rules and make whatever changes are necessary,” he concluded.

The track also announced that the Strictly Stock division would now be called Limited Sportsman. “This division has grown so much in the past few years and has become such a great racing division, we felt that a name change was necessary,” said Hoenig.

Each regular competitor will receive a copy of the new track rules along with a car number registration form. The track asks that these forms be completed and returned no later than January 15 so that a competitor can maintain his or her car’s racing number. After that date, any unclaimed car numbers will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.

In addition, all competitors who finished in the top twenty in track points during the 2000 season will also receive by mail information on the annual awards banquet. These gala affairs will be held on two nights, January 26th and January 27th, 2001. On Friday, January 26th, special honors will be paid to those who raced in the Pro Four, Strictly Stock and Mini Stock divisions. The Saturday, January 27th banquet will be for those in the Pro Stocks, Sunoco Modifieds and the Late Model divisions.

The Banquets will be the stage for drivers and owners who finished in the top twenty points positions in their respective classes. Those who finished in the top ten in each division will receive awards from Thompson Speedway with NASCAR making some twenty four special presentations.

Tickets for the banquets will be priced at twenty dollars each and are available by calling the track office. Tickets will be sold for tables of eight or ten people. Tickets may be paid for by check, or credit card. For more information, contact the speedway office at (860)-923-2280.
