Tim Jordan Returns to His Winning Ways at Waterford

Waterford, CT — Early in the 2007 season, Tim Jordan won four Late Model races at Waterford Speedbowl (CT). Since then, his #47 team has struggled with handling issues on their car after a mid-season. They’ve searched high and low for answers – realigning the front end geometry of their Late Model and going through it multiple times to find why it isn’t handling like it used to.

Usually, that has led to struggles on the racetrack. But not on this past Saturday night. That is when Jordan broke through his slump to win his fifth Waterford feature of the season.

So, does this mean that the car is fixed? Well, not quite.

“No,” said Jordan. “That thing is still evil, I just drove my butt off tonight.”

Jordan started the race in the seventh position and starting picking off cars as the green flag flew.

“I got out front pretty early,” said Jordan. “I got to second behind Ed Reed, Jr. and we had a good race early on. I got by him on a restart, but he stayed right behind me. He pressured me for awhile and got a couple of good runs on the outside. That was a good race.

“Bruce Thomas caught us and it turned into a three-way battle. Finally, he got behind me and gave me a few good shots. But he didn’t want to try the outside. I gave him room and he didn’t take it, so I just went back to run my line and held on.”

The victory is Jordan’s first since late May.

“I was wondering if I was ever going to win again,” laughed Jordan. “If we didn’t have a bent racecar, our summer would have probably gone much better. We tried to fix everything ourselves and we’re stubborn racers. We should have probably just re-clipped it. We still haven’t found anything wrong with it.”

The Waterford season finale weekend is this coming weekend and at this point, Jordan doesn’t know what his plans are for it.

“We going to test on Friday and try a few things. We’ll see how things develop before making a decision on what we are going to do next.”
