Stafford Speedway Scales Late Model 150 Back to Second 100-Lap Event for 2008 Season

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Motor Speedway has announced today that it is restructuring its Late Model 150 event scheduled for August 22. The race will be reduced from 150 laps to 100 laps to save Late Model teams the time and resources of buying and installing new fuel cells in their cars.“In the interest of working with our competitors and their best interests we decided to make this change,” said Stafford COO/GM Mark Arute.

“Since the release of our 2008 schedule, we’ve received feedback from the majority of our Late Model competitors that the 150-lap distance would require teams to buy and install new fuel cells in their cars, so we decided to scale the race back to a 100-lap event to save our teams the time and resources of changing their cars. By keeping the race at 100-laps, we still offer two extra distance marquee events for our Late Model competitors.”

The race will become the second 100-lap extra distance event of the 2008 season for the Late Model division and will remain in its original August 22 schedule slot. Joining the Late Models that evening will be the usual fare of SK Modifieds®, SK Lights, Limited Late Models, and DARE Stocks. The first Late Model 100 of the 2008 season will be run on May 9.

Tickets for both Late Model 100 events are priced at $18.00 for adult general admission tickets, $5.00 for children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Reserved seating is priced at $20.00 for all ages. As always, Stafford Motor Speedway offers free parking with weekend overnight parking available at no extra cost.
