Pitkat Streaks in Sunoco Mods at Thompson; Fields Checkers Mini Marquee

Zuidema & Palmisano Share Late Models Wins; Boss, O’Sullivan Also Victorious

Thompson, CT — Early evening rain could not dampen the spirits of the Thompson faithful and the strong field of competitors that gathered on Thursday Night. Woody Pitkat of Stafford, CT, made it two in a row in the Sunoco Modified division. Danny Fields of Deep River, CT, scored the victory in an ultra-competitive extra-distance event for the Mini Stocks. Jeff Zuidema of N. Brookfield, MA, and Marc Palmisano of Hadley, MA, shared Late Model victory lane in the division’s doubleheader. The likes of Mike O’Sullivan of Springfield, MA in the Pro Stocks; Larry Barnett of Ledyard, CT in the Limited Sportsman; and Glenn Boss in the TIS Modifieds; turned their luck around with victories in their respective divisions.

Woody Pitkat of Stafford, CT, scored his second straight victory in the Sunoco Modified division at Thompson Speedway on Thursday night. The feature was slowed almost immediately for an opening lap incident that involved Paul Supernant. Point leader Kerry Malone had problems under the caution getting towed to pit road. Bobby Grigas led the opening three laps before giving way to the charge of Keith Rocco. Tommy Cravenho ran in the third position. Bert Marvin, Jimmy Blewett, and Woody Pitkat were making tracks to the front.

SYLVANIA 300 Weekend Includes a Heluva Good! Friday

Loudon, NH — Fans attending Friday’s events during the SYLVANIA 300 weekend on September 12, 2008, will see one Heluva Good!(r) show.

In June, Patrick Carpentier, a native of Joliette, Quebec, won the Heluva Good!(r) Pole for the LENOX Industrial Tools 301. It was the first NASCAR Sprint Cup pole for the Canadian, who has had a number of strong qualifying attempts throughout his rookie season. This was the second time a foreign-born driver has been the top qualifier in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Lloyd Shaw from Toronto, Ontario, was the first to accomplish this feat in 1953.

Extra Prize Money At Stake for Phil’s Propane 50

Seekonk, MA — Phil’s Propane has announced that the Phil’s Propane 50 lap Late Model main event on tap for this week, will pay an extra $500 to the winner, $300 for second and $200 for third. Best of luck to all competitors.

Where Do We Turn

It’s been a pretty tough stretch for our racing family and this week was no exception. We have lost many over the last few weeks and this week we added to those losses. Where do we turn when we have to deal with the loss of someone we care deeply about? Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I stayed pretty close to home this week. My Grandmother went in the hospital last Thursday and went home to the Lord on Tuesday. She was 85. Her children came in from California and Vermont along with her sister. We pulled together as a family and supported one another. We will get through this as we reach out to one another.
