Stoehr Breezes to Speedbowl Victory

Waterford, CT – Coming from the fourth starting position, Greg Stoehr had the lead halfway down the front straightaway and went to score a 25-lap Northeastern Midget Association victory Saturday night at Waterford Speedbowl. He is NEMA’s fifth winner this season.

Only two cautions slowed down Stoehr’s run to his seventh career victory. Driving the Mazda-powered family-owned #26b, he finished eight-tenths of a second ahead of Erica Santos (Breault #44) who ran second for all but one lap. Nokie Fornoro (Jarret #4) was a second-and-a-half back in third.

Rain forces postponement of Phil’s Propane Late Model 50

Seekonk, MA — With steady rain coming down, and a forecast of thundershowers throughout the evening, Seekonk Speedway management was forced to postpone the Phil’s Propane Late Model 50 Lap main even, and all activities for the evening.

Only 6 Saturday Night events scheduled for the rest of our 63rd season, with 5 for the Pro Stocks, and our point chases are not close to being determined. Fred Astle, looking for his 3rd ARC Pro Stock crown, holds a slim 13 point margin over Tom Scully Jr in the Pro Stocks. In the Late Models, Gerry DeGasparre has used his 4 out of five winning streak to not only take over the Late Model points, but has been able to use his consistency to widen his margin over Kyle Casper to 35 points. Street Stock point leader Paul Lallier has yet to visit victory lane this season, but has been able to finish in the top ten just about every week, and holds a 15 point advantage over reigning title holder Sparky Arsenault. Mike Cavallaro is hoping to use the final 6 events to keep his spot at the top of the Seekonk Sport Truck title chase. Currently, Bill Prisco sits 19 points behind the two time champion.
