Oxford Champion Travis Adams Files ACT Entry

Oxford Plains (ME) Speedway Track Champion Travis Adams has filed an entry for the New England Dodge Dealers 150 Late Model stock car race at his home track on Saturday (Sept. 13), and will try for his second career victory against the stars of the traveling American-Canadian Tour as they invade Oxford for the third and final time this season.  Adams won the autumn ACT Late Model Tour event last year, and recently wrapped up his third consecutive and fourth overall weekly racing championship at the 3/8-mile Oxford oval.

The Canton, ME racer won two weekly features on his way to the OPS championship, and would become the second Oxford regular to take an ACT victory in 2008, joining Ricky Rolfe, if he were successful in the New England Dodge Dealers 150.  Rolfe, of Albany Township, won an ACT Late Model Tour event at Oxford Plains Speedway on April 26.  ACT regular Joey “Pole” Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH won at Oxford on June 21.

DeLange Racing Headed to New Hampshire

The final points races at Dunn Tire Raceway Park in Lancaster to decide the track championships for the McGard Modifieds and the Lorigo Insurance SST Sportsman were scheduled to take place last Saturday night, September 6. But rain showers blanketed the track in the morning, and with more showers forecast for the remainder of the day DTRP track officials decided to call off the event. The makeup date has yet to be announced. With our driver, Erick Rudolph of Ransomville, atop the point standings in both divisions, the DeLange Racing team eagerly awaits the announcement, now scheduled to be released on Tuesday night, September 9.

This weekend the DeLange Racing team rejoins the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour for their lone visit in 2008 to the one-mile oval at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire. This event is traditionally the highlight of the Whelen Tour schedule, run in conjunction with events for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the NASCAR Camping World East Series. The DeLange team is anxious to test themselves on the biggest stage for NASCAR Modified racing.

The Only Showers at the SYLVANIA 300 Weekend Will Be in the Campground!

Loudon, NH — With a continued focus on improving fan amenities, New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials have quadrupled the number of portable shower facilities located throughout the speedway camping areas for the SYLVANIA 300 this weekend.

As part of their “Fans First” guest enhancement program, the shower facilities will be offered to speedway campers at no charge instead of the $10 per shower that had been charged in the past.

“Based on feedback from our fans, improvements in our camping areas have become one of our top priorities,” said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. “We introduced improved shower services in June, and we received an enormous amount of positive feedback. We are taking it up a few more notches as an added service to our valued camping guests.”

Thunder Road Gearing up for 45th Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl

Stock car drivers from around New England and eastern Canada are preparing for the 45th Annual Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl event at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road on the weekend of Sept. 27/28.  The Milk Bowl is a three-segment, cumulatively scored event that awards $10,000 to the winner plus bonuses.  And in a tradition that dates back to the first running of the race in 1962, the winner gets to kiss a real Vermont beauty, but with a twist – the lovely gal is a 1,000-lb Ayrshire dairy cow.

Montréal driver Patrick Laperle has won two of the last three Chittenden Bank Milk Bowls.  “Her nose is usually a little wet, but I don’t mind kissing her if it means I’ve won the Milk Bowl,” said Laperle.  The 2008 Milk Bowl queen will be announced in the coming days.  Harvest Hills Farm’s “Dickens” was Laperle’s leading lady last year.
