in Stafford.
Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Motor Speedway’s Late Model division has long had some of the best full fendered racing action in
the Northeast, and the chase for the 2009 Rookie of the Year title should be another hotly contested battle. Alan Provost, formerly of Stafford’s SK Light Modified division, has joined John Kasper, a former DARE Stock competitor, and Adam Gray, the 2008 Monadnock Speedway Late Model champion, on the track’s list of rookies for the 2009 season.
Provost will face the challenge of driving a full fendered car for the first time in his racing career as he makes the move up the Stafford ladder this season. Prior to coming to Stafford in 2007, Provost was a two-time Mod Light champion at the dirt track of Whip City Speedway and his only prior asphalt racing experience was at the go kart level.

Providence, RI — The driver roster has been announced for the upcoming event for three-quarter size race cars (TQ-Midgets) at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence on March 6-7.
Defending NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Ted Christopher leads the way. The Plainville, Conn., racer won the Gambler’s Classic at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., on January 17.
But Christopher will have plenty of competition.
Previous Atlantic City winners who will attempt to qualify for the first race held in Rhode Island in 50 years include Joey Payne (2004 and 2007), Lou Cicconi Jr. (2006), Mike Tidaback (2008) and Jeff Heotzler (2005).

February is always a good month. In February we pass the ½ way mark of the winter season. Generally by now everyone has pretty much had time to hunt, vacation, attend banquets and either celebrate a great past season, or in some cases, forget about what is past and look with optimism toward the coming season.
Each February signals Daytona and the ‘unofficial’ beginning of the coming race season. Just the idea of seeing some racing after four or five months without it is enough to get the enthusiasm going. In an attempt to enter the 21st Century here at ACT and Thunder Road, I am going to try and write you some thoughts each season and post it on the ACT/TR internet site for a few days. Obviously, the winter quarter is the season of great expectation. Most race teams start looking forward to the Spring and a chance to ‘start over’ for another season. All of us pretty much do the same, although this has been a very, very busy ‘off season’ for us here at the ACT/TR office.
