Woody Pitkat Joins New Haven Truck & Autobody Team for Stafford’s 15th Annual Late Model 100

Stafford Springs, CT — Billy Snow and the New Haven Truck and Auto Body Late Model team have secured the services of Woody Pitkat for the 15th Annual Late Model 100 scheduled for May 8th at Stafford Motor Speedway. The race will be the first of two extra distance events for Stafford’s Late Model division during the 2009 season, with the 2nd Late Model 100 event scheduled for August 21st.

Snow and his team debuted a three-car effort at the season opening Tech-Net Spring Sizzler, but will be down to two cars for the Late Model 100 with Snow and Pitkat. Snow is also looking to Pitkat’s Late Model experience to help the New Haven Truck and Autobody team out with their car setups.

“We started out with three cars, but one of our cars was damaged pretty bad at the Sizzler, so we’ll have myself and Woody for the 100-lapper,” said Snow. “Woody is a great Late Model driver, and we’re looking to him to help us out figure out where we are and what we need to do to our cars to get them faster. We are trying some new things with our car and Woody is the guy to tell us if it is helping. Woody has already practiced our car during Sizzler weekend, and he gave us some feedback there, so we’ll see what we can together in the 100-lapper.”

Pitkat has had great success in extra distance events at Stafford. Pitkat was the winner of the inaugural Late Model 150 in 2001 and in the SK Modified® division, he won the 100-lap event in 2007 and he came from two laps down to win last year’s CARQUEST SK 150. Left without a full-time ride in the Late Model division for the 2009 season, Pitkat is relishing the chance to race in the premier Late Model event of the season at Stafford.

“This year, I’m going to be the driver for hire in the Late Models,” said Pitkat. “I was helping Brian Chapin out at the Sizzler and he offered me his second car, but the motor blew on the car and I didn’t get a chance to race. This is the same deal with Billy, I’m going to try to help them out with their setups. I like being able to help out anyone I can, even if that means they beat me on the racetrack. This is an opportunity to have a Late Model ride in the 100-lapper and to help Billy and his team out. It doesn’t matter to me whose car it is, what kind of motor the car has in it, if it has four wheels and a steering wheel then I’ll race it. Billy’s stuff is newer, so I hope I can give them some good feedback and get a good finish.”
