Crew Profile: Jimmy Fuller

A big part of any NASCAR driver and team are the crewmembers, who toil behind the scenes in preparing and maintaining the race cars. Throughout the season, we will profile many of these hard working men and women on the NASCAR Home Tracks website to let you see the job they do in the sport.

Today’s profile features Jimmy Fuller, crew chief for driver Glen Reen in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

FULL-TIME OCCUPATION: Senior Technician for UMass Medical School
RACING BACKGROUND: I come from a racing family. My brothers Jeff, Rick and Bobby raced.  We’ve won numerous track championships with drivers including Fran Colson, Willy Hardie, Kerry Malone and Woody Pitkat. We won a Camping World Series East race at Stafford with brother Rick. In addition to working with Glen Reen on the Whelen Modified Tour I currently crew chief for Pitkat at Stafford and Thompson in the Modified divisions, Malone at Thompson and select Stafford shows, and a consultant with Heather Desrochers’ SK-Light team at Stafford.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT IN RACING: A big crash at Thompson in a Sunoco Modified race where the car was repaired under caution and driver Kerry Malone got back out on the track and won the race.
OTHER INTERESTS OR HOBBIES: My kids’ sports.
SOMETHING PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO LEARN ABOUT ME: That I actually do smile. I’m pretty serious at the race track and come across as a very competitive person, but I do have a lighter side.
