Waterford, CT — Charles Beal doubled up the Super X-Car field winning for the second consecutive week in a barnburner 20-lap event, Jason Palmer continued his domination in the Legends Cars, while Curt D’Addario returned to X-Car victory lane. Brian Rondeau and Lisa Voglesong also won in action from the Waterford Speedbowl on Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday May 20.
It was Bruce Hall (#28) leading the 30 car field down to green for the 20-lap X-Car feature. Hall would lead until halfway before Curt D’Addario (#68), who started 22nd in the field, would put a move to the outside and took the lead. Brad Voglesong (#87) was off the pace early and would go laps down, changing the complexion of the event. Caution waved at lap 13 for Randy Johnston (#11) who spun in turn four. The restart would cause havoc as multiple cars in the front of the pack, including Hall – the event’s only other leader, were involved in a wreck halting the action for track cleanup. Two more cautions put the field in D’Addario’s rearview including last week’s winner Patrick Williams (#78). Williams would not challenge and D’Addario went on to his second win of the season – he also won the opening non-points event during the Budweiser Modified Nationals March 28.
