Loftin Returns To Victory Lane

First victory for champion in more than a year

Asheboro, NC — It has been long overdue for 2008 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour champion Brian Loftin.

Loftin made a strong pass by L.W. Miller to take the lead on Lap 72 and held off current championship points leader George Brunnhoelzl III on a green-white-checkered finish to win the Caraway 150 Saturday night.

Loftin’s previous series win was at Caraway Speedway just over a year ago.

Following Brunnhoelzl was Andy Suess in third and L.W. Miller in fourth. John Smith completed the top five.


Brunnhoelzl, who won his fourth Coors Light Pole Award of the season earlier in the day in qualilfying, started on the outside of row 1 after the redraw and quickly took the lead from Frank Fleming at the start of the race.

Kraze’s night with the Seekonk Sports Truck Special, Pro4’s and Race for a Cure postponed

Seekonk, MA — With a steady rain falling, the August 29 program, featuring the Seekonk Sports Truck 30 lap main event, along with the Pro4 Modifieds and the Pro4 Powder Puff in the Race for a Cure, has been postponed until September 12.

The 3rd Annual Kraze’s Speed Equipment Seekonk Sports Truck Special gives the Truck division a chance to take center stage at The Cement Palace. In the two years prior, Charlie Rose Jr is the lone driver to take home the honors. Favorites for the win in this event lie on the shoulders of 9 time feature winner Rick Martin and six time winner Jody Tripp. Lenny Guy, John Paiva, Russ Borges and Kyle DeSouza have all come close to victory in 2009, but have come up a little short.

Speedbowl Cancels August 29 race program

Waterford, CT — Waterford Speedbowl has cancelled August 29’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing program due to the imminent heavy rain moving through the region.

The next event for the Speedbowl will be Wednesday, September 2 for another round of Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday, the region’s most action-packed and value-priced night of entertainment. HDRA 100’ drag races, giving spectators the opportunity to drag race their registered street cars and an instant hit with fans, is also on the card. The NEATV Truck Series will also compete. All this action is available for the biggest bargain in entertainment. Adult tickets are just $7 and all youth 14 years of age and under are admitted free. The action begins at 7:00pm.
