Speedbowl hosts Outlaw Stock race at Finale

Waterford, CT — Waterford Speedbowl will host a 25-lap“Outlaw Stock” race on Saturday, October 10th as part of the track’s season ending Finale weekend.

Any rear wheel drive American made car with at least a 105” wheelbase is allowed to compete. No convertible, home-made, or modified frames are allowed.

Any stock OEM transmission is allowed.

Ricky’s Race Kicks off Title Run for True Value Modifieds

Claremont, NH — The True Value Modified Racing Series kicks off it’s version of “the playoffs” when New England’s’ popular racing series rolls into Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH., Sunday October 4, for the running of the 2nd annual “Ricky’s Race For Kid’s,” presented by Granite State Harley Davidson, Lebanon, NH. The special race, in honor of former New England standout Ricky Miller, will go the distance of 112 laps, in honor of Miller’s last car number. (#12) Miller passed away in 2004.

The event will benefit David’s House, Lebanon, NH., a home-away-from-home that offers support for families with children receiving treatment through Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and feature a large amount of racing. automotive, and sports related raffles.

In addition, two former Twin State Speedway greats, Donnie Ayer and Kirby Monteith, will be remembered, and the race will serve as a qualifying event for a guaranteed starting position in the 7th Annual John Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout TM. in Concord, NC, on November 7, 2009.

Statistical Advance: Analyzing The CARQUEST Fall Final

Daytona Beach, FL — The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will make its fourth and final trip in 2009 to Stafford (Conn.) Motor Speedway for the CARQUEST Fall Final on Sunday, Oct. 4.

At Stafford Motor Speedway:

•  The Stafford Springs Agricultural Park opened in 1870 … The current race track was originally used for horse racing.
•  Horse racing gave way to automobile racing at the half-mile oval after World War II.
•  Stafford Motor Speedway became a NASCAR track in 1959 and was paved in 1967.
•  The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour has held 93 races at SMS since the tour began in 1985 … The NWMT has run there every year of its existence, except for 1988.
•  The 93 all-time NWMT races at SMS is second only to the 108 held at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway.

PASS Mods, Sportsman share spotlight at White Mountain Open Show

N. Woodstock, NH –This weekend the Pro All Stars Series (PASS)  Mods and Sportsman will be battling it out at North Woodstock New Hampshire’s  White Mountain Motorsports Park and the title chase in both divisions are a long way from being decided.

The PASS Mods battle has tightened up considerably, with Scott Grant now on top of the standings. His margin is razor thin with Andy Shaw just eight points back (391-383). Bill Dixon sits in third and trails Grant by only ten with 381 markers. Steve Bennett Jr. and Scott McDaniel are waiting in the wings in fourth and fifth should the top three falter over the season’s final two events at White Mountain and Lee USA.

Seven Past Milk Bowl Champions Qualify for 47th Chittenden Milk Bowl

Barre, VT — Seven former Milk Bowl Champions have secured a spot in the starting grid for the 47th Annual Chittenden Milk Bowl rescheduled for this Sunday (October 4) at Thunder Road International Speedbowl. Brent Dragon, Dave Pembroke, Eric Williams, Cris Michaud and Jean-Paul Cyr each have their name etched in the Milk Bowl Champions granite monument once, while Phil Scott and Brian Hoar have two wins apiece. This leaves 23 drivers aiming for their first career Milk Bowl win.

Two favorites will start segment one from the front row. Barre’s Nick Sweet starts on the pole after earning the Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Pole award last Saturday. His lap was the fourth fastest to earn the pole since Late Models took over the Chittenden Milk Bowl in 1996. Sweet will attempt to become the tenth driver in the history of the Milk Bowl to win from the pole. It is only his second career start in the prestigious event. His ninth place finish in last year’s event helped him earn the 2008 ACT Tour Rookie of the Year honors.
