Ryan Posocco Looks to Challenge for Fifth Career Championship this Season at Stafford Speedway

Stafford Springs, CT — For 4-time Stafford Speedway Late Model champion Ryan Posocco, the 2010 season will be his second attempt at a driver for five this season. Posocco nearly took home a fifth career track championship last season, but he came up 20 points short of Jim Peterson in the fight for the championship. After winning a championship in 2008 and finishing second last season, Posocco will once again be counted among the favorites to challenge for this year’s Late Model crown.

“We’re excited about this season,” said Posocco. “Everything is the same for us, car, engine, crew, and the driver. Last year it seemed to be a three-car fight between Jimmy [Peterson, Dillon [Moltz] and myself, but I think that everyone is going to see a very competitive division this year. Tommy Fearn and Tommy Butler are going to be strong, Corey Hutchings and Woody [Pitkat] are teaming up in good equipment, Keith Rocco is joining the field, and our Davidson teammate Michael Bennett is going to be good. There’s also some guys hungry to win like Brian Chapin, Adam Gray, and J.J. Hill, so I think this could be one of the most competitive seasons we’ve ever had in the Late Model division. Everyone has stepped up their program since last season ended and we’re looking forward to having some fun this year and winning some races.”

The 2010 season will be a special season for both Posocco and his car owner Marcia Kretschman. The 2010 season will be the 10th season for the Kretschman team at Stafford, and Posocco will be reunited with Eagle Leasing, a long-time sponsor of Posocco.

“I’m really excited about having Eagle Leasing coming back with us,” said Posocco. “They were with me for 10 years and we shared some special times at Stafford over the years. It will also be Marcia and Pat’s 10-year anniversary of racing at Stafford, so it’s going to be a big year for all of us.”

Along with Eagle Leasing, Posocco and the Kretschman team will welcome a brand new sponsor to the #48 Davidson Company Ford.

“We are also happy to have Rewind Hangover Prevention on the car with us for this season,” said Posocco. “Rocky Arbitell put us in touch with them and we worked out a deal to have them as one of our associate sponsors on the car for this season.”

With March Madness right around the corner, Posocco will have his eye on his favorite team, the Syracuse Orange, and he will be hoping for a repeat of the 2003 season, when Syracuse won the NCAA Tournament and he went on to win his first of four track championships.

“A repeat of 2003 would be a great season for me,” said Posocco. “I remember watching Syracuse win the championship that year and all I could think was how nice it would be to be able to get up on stage in front of everyone and be recognized as a champion. I said to myself that one day we were going to do that and we ended up winning our first championship that season. Hopefully we can both win another championship this year.”

Posocco will begin his quest for a fifth career track championship with the 39th Annual Tech-Net Spring Sizzler Weekend, scheduled for April 23-25.
