Something for everyone over 4th of July Weekend at Speedbowl

Waterford, CT  — Waterford Speedbowl is ready for a busy stretch in its schedule of events this week, offering race fans and fun seekers a little of everything over the 4th of July holiday weekend. From value priced entertainment and activities, high quality NASCAR racing with the traditional mid-season championship event, to a holiday weekend must – an aerial fireworks extravaganza – the Speedbowl will cover it all.

Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday starts it all with free youth admission and adult admission of just $7 dollars on June 30. With kids out of school, the 10th year race program is hitting its stride with fans and on the track. The racing gets underway promptly at 7:00pm allowing fans and families time to get home from work and get to the track for a great night of affordable entertainment. The racing has consistently been over in a couple of hours, perfect for a family night out.

Friday evening July 2, the ‘Show and Go at the ‘Bowl’ offers free grandstand admission to all attendees. A cool car cruise, showcasing any type of car display, plus Holeshot Drag Racing entertains on the track. A Burnout Contest sure to impress fans of all ages is also slated Friday night. Entries are accepted the day of the event for both the drags and Burnout Contest.

The Speedbowl.com 300, a tradition on the holiday weekend for over a decade at the Speedbowl, offers race fans one of the marquee events of the season on Saturday, July 3. In all, 300 laps of feature racing will be on display among six divisions. A 100-lap feature for the SK Modifieds© highlights the racing card, plus extra distance races for the Bob Valenti Auto Mall Late Models, Street Stocks and Norwich Bulletin Mini Stocks who each race 50-lap events. The A.B. CDL Driver Training Center Trucks and Legends Cars are also on hand and will race in 25-lap features. Time Trials will set the starting lineups for each, the only time all season competitors will go against the clock to qualify in many divisions. The qualifying gets started at 5:00pm with main events and opening ceremonies at 7:00pm. Admission is $25 for adults, just $5 for youth age 6 through 14 and free for all kids under age 6.

The week’s action is all a prelude to Sunday, July 4’s annual ‘Eve of Destruction’. Wildly popular among fans and thrill seekers, nothing is safe from being destroyed at this event. Demo Derbies and the always entertaining Speedbowl Trailer Race pay winners $500 each and are a literal ‘hit’ with the crowd. Speedway Bowling and Car Skiing are just some of the other on-track attractions at the event. To cap it all off, the return of fireworks at the Speedbowl ends the holiday weekend with a bang. It all gets started at 7:00pm on Sunday. Spectator gates open at 5:30pm and fans are encouraged to arrive early to pick out their favorite seat. Adult admission has affordable family fun in mind at the ‘Eve of Destruction’. Adults are $15, youth age 6 through 14 are just $5 and all kids under age 6 are free. To top it all off, the Speedbowl offers acres of free parking. The rain date is set for Sunday, July 5.
