Flannery back in Legends Car Victory Lane; Sowa, Yagmin, and Thomas repeat winners

Waterford, CT — A quick paced Wild ‘n Wacky program was completed at the Speedbowl Wednesday evening. Just two caution flags slowed an entire race program that saw sixteen year-old Anthony Flannery of East Hampton continue his dominance in the Legends Cars division. John Yagmin of Tolland was a repeat winner in Super X-Car action while Glen Thomas Jr. of Groton returned to Victory Lane in the X-Cars to extend his points lead in the championship race. Nicholas Sowa of Middletown won his second straight Bandolero feature to round out the night’s winners.

A great caution-free 20-lap Legends Car event got started with Troy Talman and Flannery on the front row, with Flannery taking over on the first circuit. John Hilliker moved to second with last week’s winner Dennis Pantani holding third position over the opening laps. Hilliker was able to stick with Flannery at the front while David Garbo Jr. closed on Pantani for third. Garbo poked the nose of his car under Pantani on lap 7 and was able to make the pass in turn one to take over the spot.

The race stayed under green through halfway at lap 10 and Hilliker was still within two lengths of Flannery at the front. Garbo was a half straightaway back in third, as Pantani and Talman rounded out the top five. Hilliker pulled off a stellar move on lap 12. He ducked under a lapped car exiting turn four while Flannery went high, stealing the top spot with a heads up move.

PASS is Off to Seekonk for a Super Late Model/Pro Stock Showdown

Naples, ME — The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North super late model circuit makes its lone Bay State stop of 2010 this Saturday night August 14 when they take on the home track heroes of Seekonk Speedway, and the touring racers will be looking to even the score in Saturday nights’ 150 lap shootout.

In fact, Hutchins and Ray Parent both led the event before Scully Jr. took over to capture the win.

Now the drivers that call PASS their home series don’t like getting beat at their own game so you can expect Johnny Clark, Ben Rowe, Cassius Clark, Donnie Whitten ,Trevor Sanborn, Gary Smith, Nick Ribbe, Randy Turner, Scott Alexander and a whole host of others to go all out to even the score. Modified Racing Series looks to continue stellar season at Wings ‘n Wheels

Waterford, CT — Waterford Speedbowl is always a homecoming of sorts for many of the stars in the Modified Racing Series.  This Saturday, August 14th’s Wings ‘n Wheels event for the popular northeast Modifieds, sponsored by BobValentiAutoMall.com, proves no different.  Several drivers with Speedbowl roots and experience will be on hand.

The ‘Bowl’s three-eighths mile, two groove racing surface offer a perfect battleground to wage what should be a 100-lap open-wheel war.  Up until this year, the Modified Racing Series had eight different winners in all eight previous events held at the shoreline oval.  Doug Coby of Milford, CT opened the 2010 MRS season with a win in the Speedbowl’s Budweiser Blastoff 100-lapper to become the Series’ first repeat winner at the ‘Bowl.  In 11 events this year, a remarkable 10 different winners have reached Victory Lane.

This Saturday’s event should be wide-open.  Local driver Ken Barry of Preston, CT is the most recent winner in the MRS, picking up the win at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Maine.  He is an expected entry at Wings ‘n Wheels for legendary car owner and father Art Barry.  Max Zachem, an up-and-comer also from Preston, is another expected and he brings the added experience of picking up checkered flags in the Legends Car division at the Speedbowl in his past.
