Brit Andersen Returning to Stafford’s SK Light Ranks for CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend
Stafford Springs, CT — As the SK Light Modified cars take to the Stafford Motor Speedway asphalt one last time during the 38th Annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend, the division will have one of its winningest drivers back in the starting field. Brit Andersen, who won 13 SK Light races in three seasons of competition, will return to the track in his family owned #70.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back in the car,” said Andersen. “I didn’t even know I was going to be driving it until last Thursday.” Andersen has his sights set on taking the checkered flag and beating Tommy Barrett, Jr., who has won an astounding 10 races this season, and to prove that his car is still the best SK Light in the field.
“We’re coming back to win the race and beat Tommy Barrett,” said Andersen. “We’re looking to either run the car with another driver next season or we are going to sell the car, so we want to show everyone that it is still the best car in the division. It’s going to be kind of like Ryan Newman racing the Whelen Modified Tour, we’re focused on winning the race. Tommy, Joey Cipriano, and Matt Galko are all fast cars so it’s going to be tough, but I know how I race and I’ve seen how they race. I know there has been some great races at Stafford this season, but I think our race is going to be the best race of the entire season.”
While Andersen will be gunning for the victory, Barrett and Galko will be racing for the championship as well as the victory, a fact that is not lost on Andersen.
“I respect the fact that those guys are racing for the championship, but I’m not going to be moving over and just letting them go by,” said Andersen. “Those guys are clean racers and we’ll race them clean, but we’re not going to give them anything.”
Andersen began the 2010 season in the SK Modified® division, driving for Chris and Doug DiPisa. After 8 races, the two parted company and Andersen now has a ride in the NEMA Midget division for the remainder of the 2010 season. Andersen has been working with Mike Scravani, which he says has helped him in his racing and his working knowledge of racecars.
“I’ll be driving a NEMA Midget car for the remainder of the year,” said Andersen. “It’s my dad’s midget and Mike Scravani maintains the car for us. It’s been great working with Mike, he has taught me a lot about racing and working with him has helped me with my knowledge of setups and what the car needs to be fast.”
Andersen and the rest of the SK Light Modified cars will qualify and then race for the final time in 2010 on Saturday, October 2nd during CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend. The SK Light field will also be part of the CARQUEST Belts & Hose Pit Party on Sunday, October 3rd from 11am-12pm.
Tickets for the 38th Annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend are now on sale at the Stafford Motor Speedway Box Office. Tickets are priced at $35.00 for adult general admission tickets, $5.00 for children ages 6-14, $38.00 for reserved seats, and free for children ages 5 & under. Tickets are good for admission to the Saturday, October 2nd, and Sunday, October 3rd portions of the Fall Final. As always, Stafford Motor Speedway offers plenty of free parking with overnight weekend parking available.
