Johnny Clark PASS North Winner at Speedway 660 on 6/11

Johnny Clark took command on lap 102 of Saturday night’s PASS 200 and kept Ben Rowe in his mirrors the rest of the way to earn a hard fought victory at New Brunswick Canada’s Speedway 660. Mike Rowe, Jonathan Hicken and Travis Benjamin completed the top five.

Clark is the first driver to score a second victory in the first ten PASS sanctioned super late model races of 2011, and its his second PASS 200 score in a row.

Clark may have controlled the second half of the race but his first 100 laps weren’t easy. His power steering went away twenty five laps in and he struggled to the half way break, but once his steering was restored and his chassis fine tuned the five time PASS North champ took control.

Travis Benjamin,Ben Rowe, Alex Gingras, Lonnie Sommerville and Scott Chubbuck were all up front early on. Sommerville looked like he had a shot at victory until a wheel departed at lap 47. He returned to finish twelfth, three laps down.

There was an unusual sight up front as Mike Rowe hitched a ride in Richard Moody’s back up racer after losing a motor in his own mount. Father chased son to the checkers in a car that he hadn’t turned a single lap in until his qualifying race.

Johnathan Hicken’s fourth was tops for the Canadian contingent. Nine drivers completed all 200 circuits.

The PASS North super late models move on to Quebec Saturday June 25th for the Habitations Dany Lagace 150 at L’Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee Junction. The speedway is on line at www.autodromechaudiere.com.
