USAC DMA Midgets Add August 6 Show at Bear Ridge Speedway; Randy Cabral and Lanson Fornoro Announce Plans to Get Dirty

Bradford, VT — The USAC DMA Midgets have been added to Interstate Battery of New-Mont Night at Bear Ridge Speedway on Saturday August 6. The Midgets will join an action packed show for all the weekly divisions – including the Bear Ridge Coupes- the Granite State Mini Sprints and an antique tractor show.

“We’re just thrilled that Butch Elms has added this show for the USAC DMA Midgets,” said New England Auto Racing Hall of Fame Member and USAC DMA member Skip Matczak. “We appreciate all the support that Butch has given us in the first year of our new series of affordable Midget racing.

Multi-time NEMA Midget Champion Randy Cabral and third generation Midget competitor Lanson Fornoro also announced their plans to run the final two USAC DMA Midget events at Bear Ridge on August 20 and September 10.

“I love racing on dirt,” said Cabral, who has 30 NEMA wins on pavement. “I’m sure I’d enjoy running with the ARDC, but the DMA Midgets are so much more affordable and so much closer to home that I really can’t pass up the opportunity. My plans seem to get changed six times a day, but right now, I’m definitely planning on racing the last two DMA shows at Bear Ridge. I have to miss the August 6 date because I’ll be racing with NEMA, but after that there aren’t any conflicts.”

Cabral will be driving a car that he owns himself. Lanson Fornoro, who currently races in the NEMA Lites, will wheel a chariot owned by Jackie Parker. Lanson’s grandfather, Nick Fornoro, raced Midgets with the AAA, was the ARDC Champion in 1950 and was the first NASCAR Midget Champion in 1953. In later years, he was the Chief Starter for the IRL and CART. Lanson’s father, Nokie Fornoro, won championships with both the ARDC and NEMA and his uncle Drew Fornoro leads the NEMA win list with 85 victories.
