Valenti Modified Series Points Battle Moves to Thompson

Thompson, CT — With a hotly contested points battle taking place, and 10 different winners in 12 races, the Valenti Modified Racing Series returns to the Thompson, CT., Speedway Thursday night, August 25, with drivers from throughout the Northeast expected to compete in a 75 lap showdown.

With only 12-points separating them, Les Hinckley III, of Windsor Locks, CT., and Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT., have squared off for a run to the series championship with four races remaining on the schedule. Both drivers are expected entries at Thompson.

Hinckley and Pasteryak have visited victory lane twice and both are evenly matched in top five (8) and top ten (12) finishes. To date their average finishes are about as close as it gets: 4.1 for Hinckley and 4.6 for Pasteryak.  The worst finish by either driver in the last 2 races at Waterford and Seekonk was a 4th by Pasteryak at Waterford. Hinckley is seeking his first title. Pasteryak was the 2008 Champion.

Entries expected Thursday include Mike Stefanik, of Coventry, R.I., Two-time series champion, Jon McKennedy, E. Chelmsford, MA., Louie Mechalides, Tygnsboro, MA., and Rowan Pennink, of Huntingdon Valley, PA, Norm Wrenn, Nashua, NH., Kenny Barry, Preston, CT., Mike Holdridge, Madison, CT., and Keith Rocco, of Wallingford, CT are also expected.

Practice is at 2:00 pm with qualifying heats at 5:45 PM.
