Heather DesRochers Ready to Build Upon Rookie of the Year Winning Season in SK Modified® Division in 2012 at Stafford

Stafford Springs, CT — After several seasons and two victories in Stafford's SK Light division, Granby, MA native Heather DesRochers made a successful transition into Stafford's premier SK Modified® division for the 2011 season. DesRochers posted two top-10 finishes this year to finish in 16th place in the SK Modified® standings and win the Reliable Welding and Speed Rookie of the Year award in a nip and tuck battle with Brian Sullivan. Although her team faced a motor issue throughout the 2011 season, DesRochers was happy with her rookie season and is looking to build upon her rookie season in 2012 at Stafford.

"I think things went really well for us this year," said DesRochers. "We had some issues with the motor that we were sorting through for most of the year, so that hurt us a little with time to work on the car. Once we got the motor issue taken care of, we were able to focus on the car setup and we felt like we had it pretty close to where I could gain some experience. It was a learning year for us, but I felt like we definitely improved as the season went on."

Despite all the progress DesRochers and her team made during the 2011 season, they are in search of sponsorship to compete in 2012. Without a primary sponsor, DesRochers may not be able to get on the track at all during the 2012 season.

Kyle Spencer Moving from SK Lights to SK Modified®Division at Stafford; Looking to Win Rookie of the Year in 2012

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Motor Speedway's SK Modified® division has added another rookie competitor from the SK Light ranks for the upcoming 2012 season. The newest member of the 2012 SK Modified® rookie class will be Montgomery, Mass. native Kyle Spencer. Spencer is coming off a career best season in Stafford's SK Light division, with 2 wins and a career best 5th place finish in the points standings. Spencer will follow a long list of competitors who have made the move from the SK Lights to the SK Modified® division, which includes Glen Reen, Michael Gervais, Jr., Chris Matthews, Heather DesRochers, John Montesanto, Mark Bakaj, Adam Skowyra, Matt Gallo, Richie Pallai, Jr., and Joe Allegro, Jr.

"I've moved up a division almost every other year since I started racing," said Spencer. "I've been in the SK Light division for 5 years now so we felt like it was time to make the move. We're taking the same car from the Lights and we are getting a new spec engine from Tony at T/A Engines, so we're definitely looking forward to the new season."

For Spencer and his team, the 2012 season looks like the perfect time to be making the move up to the SK Modified® division. After struggling for much of his time in the SK Light division, Spencer and his #18 Montgomery Massage Therapy team seem to have found their groove during the 2011 season. Spencer scored his first two career victories at Stafford, and both wins came in spectacular fashion. Spencer's first win came after a three-wide run to the checkered flag with Tommy Barrett and Matt Galko, and his second win came in a green white checkered finish that saw Spencer outduel Galko in the outside groove to take the checkered flag first. In addition to his 2 victories this season, Spencer posted 8 top-5 and 13 top-10 finishes after posting 7 top-5 and 26 top-10 finishes in his first four seasons.

Keith Rocco – Fueling for a Busy 2012 Season

Hugely determined, immensely aggressive and spectacularly daring, very few drivers work harder at racing than Keith Rocco.

New Britain, Connecticut — The 2011 season gave fans across New England a rock-solid view of the commitment level Keith Rocco places on his racing. Pushing the asphalt “win-bar” higher than any racer since Richie Evans or Geoff Bodine, the Wallingford, Connecticut frontrunner drove to his sixth Track Championship after winning more races than any single driver in the United States.

Now, with those thirty-two Victories’ and the holiday’s tucked neatly in the past, Keith Rocco has returned to the surroundings where every winning tally began.

“Jeff and I learned early that races are mostly won in the shop.” said Rocco. “I’m sure fans will remember our father’s habit of arriving late for races. People would be baffled because he was still fast and he could still win. Well it was all that preparation – all that race shop work.”

The son of recognized racer Ron Rocco, Keith’s career began in earnest in 2003. Combining effort with twin brother Jeff, the pair came close to winning the Waterford Speedbowl Sportsman Championship in their very first appearance.
