Speedbowl ready to host four events in five days

ISMA Supermodifieds and Memorial Day Madness events headline holiday weekend

Waterford, CT — Waterford Speedbowl begins a busy stretch this week, hosting four events over five days beginning Wednesday.  The track’s three weekly series are in full swing – Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday, Sho and Go Friday’s and NASCAR racing every Saturday.  Adding to the week’s excitement on Sunday is Memorial Day Madness a Speedbowl favorite every year.

Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday gets the weekend celebration started early at the Speedbowl.  Offering free grandstands admission for youth age 14 and under and just $8 adult grandstands admission, the mid-week show is a fan favorite and a hit for those seeking affordable family fun.  A special attraction this week sees the NEMA Lites come to the Speedbowl to join the Wild ‘n Wacky program.  The gates open at 5:30pm and the action on track starts at 7:00pm.

The track takes a break on Thursday before returning with Friday’s Sho and Go at the ‘Bowl, offering free grandstands admission to all attendees.   Nearly any safe motor vehicle including street rods, hot rods, muscle cars, street cars and trucks are welcomed to participate in the 100 foot drag race competitions on the Speedbowl’s front stretch for a $25.00 entry fee.   A free car cruise show on the midway is also part of every Friday night.   Test and tune for the drags begins at 6:00pm and elimination rounds follow.

On Saturday the 800-horsepower ISMA Supermodifieds continue a Memorial Day Weekend tradition at the Speedbowl.  Saturday’s 50-lap feature is a must see event for any race fan.  The fastest short track auto racing machines routinely circle the three-eighths mile Speedbowl in 12-second laps as average lap speeds are over 100 miles per hour.  Four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series races join the Supers on the program, highlighted by the Speedbowl’s SK Modified® division.  Qualifying gets started at 5:00pm with main events at 7:00pm Saturday.  A special ISMA autograph session is scheduled for approximately 6:30pm, providing fans opportunity to meet the stars of the series.  Adult grandstands admission is $33.00 on Saturday with youth admitted for $10.00.  Kids age 5 and under are free.

Sunday evening’s Memorial Day Madness is presented by 97.7 WCTY radio and offers thrill seekers a night of smashing and extreme action.  Local motorcycle stuntman Luke Emmons, one of the nation’s finest extreme motorcycle riders, will put on a performance in his native Connecticut.  The eternally popular Demolition Derby is sure to deliver the extreme carnage and massive hits fans have come to love.  Another Speedbowl favorite the wild Trailer Race – will convert the Speedbowl into a scrap metal yard.  A ski car race plus more surprises are all part of the evening’s fun.  One of the region’s first fireworks displays of the year will light up the sky to conclude the program.  Gates open at 5:30pm and the smashing begins at 7:00pm.   Adults grandstands admission is $16.00, youth 6 through 14 just $6.00 and age 5 and under are free on Sunday.

All event pricing is inclusive of Connecticut State admissions tax.
